Linear Gold Continues to Intersect Mineralization on its Ixhuatan Project, Mexico

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 22, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp (TSX:LRR) is pleased to report additional drill results from the Ixhuatan Project, located in the state of Chiapas Mexico. The most recent results are from the ongoing drill program at the Campamento Deposit.

Campamento Deposit

Infill drilling has confirmed the continuity of mineralization to the SW and NE of the main high-grade core.

Results for the upper portion (65%) of Hole IX-71 (down to 212 metres) have been received. From 0 - 194 metres the hole intersected 3.6 grams per tonne gold and 12.0 grams per tonne silver. This (194.0 metre zone) includes two higher grade mineralized sections: an upper interval (from 0 to 36 metres) assayed 7.6 grams per tonne gold and 20.1 grams per tonne silver, while a lower interval (from 148 and 194 metres) assayed 5.3 grams per tonne gold and 8.0 grams per tonne silver over 46 metres. Hole IX-71 was designed to test the full width of the high grade portion of the deposit. The hole was drilled from the same collar location as IX-25 at an azimuth of 150 degrees and dipping -57 degrees. The estimated true width of the intersection is 107 metres, based on the sub-vertical dip of the Campamento Deposit. Assays from 212 metres to the end of the hole (327.7 metres) are pending.

Hole IX-72 intersected 1.0 grams per tonne gold and 4.3 grams per tonne silver over 150 metres (from 26 to 176 metres). This zone also included two higher grade intervals: an upper zone (from 48 to 60 metres) assayed 2.2 grams per tonne gold and 6.0 grams per tonne silver over 12 metres and a lower zone (from 120 to 130 metres) assayed 2.3 grams per tonne gold and 19.6 grams per tonne silver over 10 metres. The hole was designed to test the continuity and width of the deposit between the sections tested by holes IX-69 and IX-71. Hole IX-72 was collared 45 metres ENE of IX-69 and 80 metres SW of hole IX-71. It was drilled at an azimuth of 150 degrees at a -60 degree dip. Based on the sub-vertical dip of the Campamento Deposit the estimated true width of this intersection is 75 metres.

Drilling is proceeding with three drill rigs on the Campamento Deposit and one drill rig testing satellite targets including the Western and Cerro La Mina anomalies. Drilling at the Campamento Deposit continues to focus in the open mineralized directions along strike and at depth. In addition, an infill drilling program has started that is expected to result in a resource calculation for the Campamento Deposit, expected to be completed during the first half of 2006.

Linear has mobilized three crews to carry-out an extensive regional sampling program on its 100% owned concessions which total more than 98,000 hectares. Initially, the program is focused on stream sediments, and over the last six weeks over 800 samples have been taken. As anomalous areas are identified, follow-up crews will conduct soil and rock sampling programs followed by a mapping program to advance targets to the drilling stage.

This press release has been prepared under supervision of Mr. Bill Bond P.Geo. who serves as the qualified person for this project under National Instrument 43-101. A map of the project showing the location of all drill holes is available at the company's website www.lineargoldcorp.com.

All samples were submitted to ALS Chemex Labs in Guadalajara, Mexico with gold analyzed by 50g charge digestion Fire Assay - AA finish with samples greater that 10 g/tonne analyzed by Fire Assay - gravimetric finish. Other metals were analyzed by aqua regia digestion with ICP finish.

Linear Gold Corp. is actively exploring for gold and base metals in Mexico, and through joint ventures in Canada and the Dominican Republic.
