Linear Gold Expands Gold Mineralization to the East
and South from the Campamento Zone, Ixhuatan Project,

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - March 16, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp.
(TSX:LRR) is pleased to announce that it has identified additional gold
mineralization to the east and south of previous drilling from the
Campamento target zone of its 100% owned Ixhuatan project, located in
Chiapas, Mexico. New results are from Holes IX-33 and IX-40 through
IX-44 and include four holes bottoming in mineralization with highlights
of 86.0 metres containing 3.0 grams per tonne of gold from Hole IX-40,
90.5 metres containing 5.7 grams per tonne of gold from Hole IX-41, 78.0
metres containing 4.3 grams per tonne of gold from Hole IX-42, 76.0
metres containing 4.3 grams per tonne of gold from Hole IX-43, and 20.0
metres containing 3.4 grams per tonne of gold from Hole IX-44. Also, new
analyses of the deeper portion of Hole IX-33 indicate gold
mineralization at the bottom of the hole from 114 to 133.2 metres which
contains 1.3 grams per tonne of gold. This intersection from Hole IX-33
indicates additional continuity to the south of the previous drill
pattern at a greater depth. Detailed analyses are as follows:

Hole IX-33 was drilled vertically, 40 metres to the south of Hole IX-28,
to a total depth of 133.2 metres. Assays from the upper portion of the
hole from 0-106 metres were described in a press release from January
10, 2005 (containing 8 metres at 1.0 grams per tonne of gold from 6 to
14 metres depth). Assays from the lower portion of the hole indicate
gold mineralization from 114-133.2 metres containing 1.3 grams per tonne
of gold and 4.4 grams per tone of silver which bottomed in
mineralization of 1.6 grams per tonne of gold from 133 to 133.2 metres
depth. This depth of mineralization indicates that there is either a dip
or fault offset of mineralization to the south of the main drill pattern
which means that previous holes 29,30, and 31 would not have penetrated
deeply enough to test for continuity of the main zone of gold
mineralization. Deepening of these holes has become a priority as
drilling equipment of greater depth capacity has now arrived on site.

Hole IX-40 was drilled vertically, 25 metres to the east of Hole 22 and
38, to a total depth of 177.7 metres. Assays from the hole indicate a
zone of mineralization beginning from 10 metres below the surface to 166
metres which contains 2.1 grams per tonne of gold, including 86 metres
containing 3.0 grams per tonne of gold. A higher grade portion from the
hole indicates 18 metres containing 11.4 grams per tonne of gold and
24.1 grams per tonne of silver from 52 metres depth. This hole shows an
increase in grade and thickness to the east from Hole IX-22 and shows
greater depth of mineralization than recognized from Hole IX-38. As the
collar of Hole IX-40 is located 21 metres higher in elevation than that
of Holes IX-22 and 38, the mineralization is shown to be beginning at a
higher elevation to the east in Hole IX-40.

Hole IX-41 was drilled vertically, 29 metres to the east of Holes IX-27,
37, and 39, to a total depth of 122.53 metres. Assays from the hole
indicate a zone of mineralization beginning at the collar and continuing
to the total depth of the hole containing 122.53 metres of 4.8 grams per
tonne of gold and 23.7 grams per tonne of silver. A higher grade portion
is present from 42 to 72 metres containing 30 metres of 9.1 grams per
tonne of gold and 32.6 grams per tonne of silver. Hole IX-41 shows an
increase in thickness of mineralization to the east as the collar
elevation is located 52 metres above that of Hole IX-27 which also began
and ended in mineralization.

Hole IX-42 was drilled to the east at an angle of -70 degrees from the
same collar as that of Hole IX-40, to a total depth of 139.23 metres.
Hole IX-42 indicates mineralization from 10 to 88 metres containing 78
metres of 4.3 grams per tonne of gold and 11.8 grams per tonne of
silver. At a depth of 88 metres the mineralization is located at a
horizontal distance of 30.1 metres to the east of the collar of the
hole. Hole IX-42 shows an increase in grade of gold to the east from
that seen in Hole IX-40.

Hole IX-43 was drilled to the east at an angle of -70 degrees from the
same location as Hole IX-41, to a total depth of 156.36 metres. Hole
IX-43 indicates mineralization from 2 to 78 metres containing 76 metres
of 4.3 grams per tonne of gold and 14.5 grams per tonne of silver. A
higher grade portion is present from 34 to 70 metres containing 36
metres of 7.2 grams per tonne of gold and 18.0 grams per tonne of
silver. At a depth of 78 metres the mineralization is located at a
horizontal distance of 26.5 metres to the east of the collar of the
hole. Hole IX-43 also contains a two metre interval containing 2.90
grams per tonne of gold from 152 to 154 metres depth, immediately above
the bottom of the hole at 156.3 metres. This intersection indicates the
presence of gold further to the southeast than recognized from previous
drilling.

Hole IX-44 was drilled vertically, located 30 metres to the north of
Hole IX-22 and IX-38 and 26 metres to the east of Hole IX-21, to a total
depth of 153.01 metres. Hole IX-44 identified mineralization from 10 to
90 metres containing 80 metres of 1.7 grams per tonne of gold and 5.4
grams per tonne of silver. A higher grade portion is present from 48 to
68 metres containing 20 metres of 3.4 grams per tonne of gold and 11.7
grams per tonne of silver. Hole IX-44 also contains an interval from 146
to 153.01 metres containing 7.01 metres of 1.5 grams per tonne of gold
and 7.0 grams per tonne of silver at the bottom of the hole with the
final interval containing 3.4 grams per tonne of gold from 152 to 153.01
metres. Hole IX-44 continues to show continuity of grade and thickness
on the eastern margin of the deposit and also shows the beginning of
mineralization at a higher elevation than that in Hole IX-21. The
increasing mineralization at the bottom of hole IX-44 will be
followed-up with deeper drilling.

Drilling is continuing at an accelerated pace with six additional holes
completed (IX-45 through IX-50) and pending assays.

Phil Pyle, Linear's Vice President of Exploration for Central America
states, "We are pleased by the continuity of grade and thickness to the
east of the deposit and that the mineralization is at a higher elevation
as we pursue it uphill. We are also encouraged by the presence of
mineralization in the deeper portion of Hole IX-33 which indicates
additional continuity at a greater depth than penetrated by earlier
drilling. The zone of continuous mineralization in the Campamento Zone
is continuing to grow quickly with each of the most recent holes
indicating additional economic mineralization."

All samples were submitted to ALS Chemex Labs in Guadalajara Mexico with
gold by 30g digestion Fire Assay - AA finish with samples greater than
10 g/tonne analyzed by Fire Assay - gravimetric finish and other metals
by ICP.
