Linear Gold Extends Mineralization to Depth and Along Strike at the Campamento Deposit, Ixhuatan Project, Mexico

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - July 18, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp (TSX:LRR) is pleased to report additional drill results from the Ixhuatan Project, located in Chiapas, Mexico. The most recent results are from the ongoing drill program at the Ixhuatan Property and include results from drilling on the Campamento Deposit, Western Anomaly and Cerro La Mina Anomaly.

Campamento Deposit

Additional drilling at the Campamento Deposit has extended mineralization to the northeast, southwest and to depth.

Deep drilling in Hole IX-67 intersected high grade mineralization from 0 to 194 metres that reported 6.8 grams per tonne gold and 64.0 grams per tonne silver. Hole IX-67 bottomed in a second mineralized gold zone which assayed 3.8 grams per tonne gold and 4.0 grams per tonne silver over 5 metres (from 278 and 283 metres). Further deep drilling will be required to determine the depth continuity of this zone. Hole IX-67 was drilled vertically near the collar of Hole IX-26 to test the depth extent of mineralization below 100 metres. Hole IX-26 previously reported high grade mineralization from surface to its drilled depth of 100 metres.

Hole IX-69 intersected 62 meters of 2.0 grams per tonne gold and 6.5 grams per tonne silver (from 108 to 170 metres), which lies within a broad mineralized section of 152 metres of 1.5 grams per tonne gold and 4.7 grams per tonne silver (between 36 and 188 metres). A higher grade interval between 132 and 144 metres returned 5.4 grams per tonne gold and 22.5 grams per tonne silver. Based on the sub-vertical dip of the Campamento Zone, the estimated true width of the 152 metre wide zone is approximately 90 metres. Results below 302 metres are pending. Hole IX-69 was drilled to a depth of 401 metres at an azimuth of 150 and an inclination of -55 degrees. The hole was collared 110 metres to the southwest of the high grade Campamento target and was drilled to test the strike extension of gold mineralization associated with the main Campamento high grade zone.

Hole IX-70 intersected 30 metres averaging 6.8 grams per tonnes gold and 5.8 grams per tonne silver (from 38 to 68 metres). This hole was drilled to a depth of 84 metres, approximately 150 metres east-northeast of the main Campamento mineralization. The hole was collared at an azimuth of 330 and an inclination of -55 degrees, but was terminated due to technical difficulties. Hole IX-70B was drilled from the same collar as Hole IX-70 at an azimuth of 330 and an inclination of -65 degrees. This hole intersected 8.3 grams per tonne gold and 12.3 grams per tonne silver over a 24 metre interval between 32 and 68 metres depth. Results below 292 metres are pending.

Hole IX-68 drilled from the spur road, 30 metres north of Hole IX-62, cut a high-grade interval of 21.2 grams per tonne gold and 10.8 grams per tonne silver between 60 and 62 metres depth.

Western Anomaly

Further diamond drilling on the Western Anomaly, located approximately 1 kilometre to the northwest of the Campamento Deposit, has identified additional auriferous mineralization.

Hole IX-65, drilled from the same collar as previously reported Hole IX-58, intersected 16 metres of 3.0 grams per tonne gold and 1.5 grams per tonne silver beginning at 4 metres depth. The hole was drilled at an azimuth of 270 and an inclination of -70 degrees.

Hole IXWA05-01, collared 79 metres west-northwest of Hole IX-65, was drilled at an azimuth of 240 and an inclination of -70 degrees. Gold mineralization to 140 metres depth averaged 0.7 grams per tonne gold and 0.9 grams per tonne silver. Highlights include 1.0 grams per tonne gold and 1.1 grams per tonne silver from surface down to 60 metres. Mineralization in Hole IXWA05-01 occurs within an altered limestone in contact with a porphyry intrusive.

Hole IXWA05-02, collared 200 metres north of Hole IX-65, was drilled north at an angle of -60 degrees. The hole intersected 6 metres of mineralization grading 1.1 grams per tonne gold and 0.4 grams per tonne silver between 38 and 44 metres depth. Gold mineralization in this hole is associated with veins and fractures within a granodiorite-diorite intrusive

Hole IXWA05-03 was collared 38 metres to the south-southeast of Hole IXWA05-02. The hole was drilled at an azimuth of 255 and an inclination of -55 degrees. A 14 metre mineralized zone grading 0.9 grams per tonne gold and 0.4 grams per tonne silver was encountered from 22 to 36 metres depth. The zone is hosted within mineralized granodiorite.

Cerro La Mina

Two additional drill holes have been completed at the Cerro La Mina Anomaly. This Anomaly is approximately 1.5 kilometres east-northeast of the Campamento Deposit.

Hole IXCM05-01 was collared 30 metres north of Hole IX-07 (14 metres of 1.4 grams per tonne gold and 6.5 grams per tonne silver, between 30 and 44 metres) and drilled south at an angle of -70 degrees. Several intervals of mineralization were encountered. An upper interval of 12 metres, starting at 4 metres reported 1.2 grams per tonne gold and 2.0 grams per tonne silver. A second interval between 62 and 64 metres recorded 1.2 grams per tonne gold, 3.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.62% copper. A deeper interval from 94 to 104 metres returned values of 1.9 grams per tonne gold and 5.1 grams per tonne silver. The mineralization is possibly structurally-related and is hosted within a highly altered porphyritic andesite or feldspar porphyry intrusive.

Hole IXCM05-02 was collared 270 metres northeast of Hole IXCM05-01 and was drilled to a depth of 249 metres. The hole was drilled at a 220 azimuth and an inclination of -50 degrees. Several mineralized intersections were encountered in this hole including 32 metres grading 1.0 grams per tonne gold and 1.7 grams per tonne silver starting from surface. Other highlights included 8 metres of 2.1 grams per tonne gold and 1.5 grams per tonne silver, 6 metres of 1.0 grams per tonne gold and 3.8 grams per tonne silver, 26 metres of 1.2 grams per tonne gold and 4.4 grams per tonne silver, 20 metres of 0.6 grams per tonne gold and 2.1 grams per tonne silver and 12 metres of 0.5 grams per tonne gold and 1.3 grams per tonne silver (see table for depth details). The broad zone of gold mineralization is hosted by porphyritic andesite/hypabyssal intrusive.

Drilling is continuing on the Cerro La Mina Anomaly. Several IP targets with coincident conventional and MMI soil anomalies will be tested.

Linear Gold Corp is very encouraged with the results of the most recent drill program. The gold mineralization associated with the main Campamento zone has been extended to the Northeast, Southwest and to depth. Results from both the Western and Cerro La Mina Anomalies are indicative of the size of the mineralizing system. Further systematic field work is being undertaken to define further drill targets. Drilling is continuing.

This press release has been prepared under the supervision of Mr. Bill Bond P.Geo. who serves as the qualified person for this project under National Instrument 43-101. A map of the project showing the location of all drill holes is available at the company's website www.lineargoldcorp.com.

All samples were submitted to ALS Chemex Labs in Guadalajara Mexico with gold analyzed by 30g or 50g charge digestion Fire Assay - AA finish with samples greater than 10 g/tonne analyzed by Fire Assay - gravimetric finish. Other metals were analyzed by aqua regia digestion with ICP finish.

Linear Gold Corp. is actively exploring for gold and base metals in Mexico, and through joint ventures in Canada and the Dominican Republic.
