Linear Gold Identifies High-Grade Gold and Silver From Trenches at the La Lechoza Prospect, Ampliacion Pueblo Viejo Concession, Dominican Republic

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - June 15, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp. (TSX:LRR) is pleased to announce that detailed surface exploration including soil, rock, and trench sampling during May of 2005 has outlined several zones of outcropping gold mineralization at the La Lechoza prospect within its 100% owned Ampliacion Pueblo Viejo concession, located north of the Pueblo Viejo gold mine in the Dominican Republic. Highlights from the trench sampling program include:

- 18 metres of 11.3 grams per tonne gold from Trench LT-10,

- 30 metres of 2.7 grams per tonne gold from Trench LT-4, and

- 36 metres of 1.9 grams per tonne gold from Trench LT-3 including 4 metres at 12.9 grams per tonne of gold.

A 1500 metre diamond drilling program is scheduled to commence this week to explore these gold targets.

Three hundred and sixty (360) soil samples and three hundred and two (302) rock and trench samples were collected at La Lechoza during the month of May. Results from the soil program have outlined five separate zones of gold, silver, copper, and zinc mineralization within an area of 650 by 750 metres. Of the 360 soil samples collected from strongly weathered tropical soil profiles, 172 returned detectable levels of gold mineralization with 34 containing in excess of 0.1 grams per tonne gold and 12 containing between 0.5 grams and 12.5 grams per tonne gold.

Within the gold-bearing zones outlined by the soil program, two hundred and seventy (270) trench samples were collected from eight separate trenches totaling 540 metres in length that were cut using an excavator. The 2-metre, continuous chip-channel samples were taken at an average depth of 1.8 metres in saprolitic material along the base of the trench walls. Highlighted results from the trenching program include 18 metres containing 11.3 grams per tonne gold and 310.2 grams per tonne of silver from Trench LT-10, 36 metres containing 1.9 grams per tonne gold from Trench LT-03, and 30 metres containing 2.7 grams per tonne gold from Trench LT-04. All 270 trench samples returned detectable gold values. Detailed analyses are as follows:

Trench LT-03 is 90 metres in length and is oriented NW, parallel to a pre-existing trench (LT-01) that was cut by MIM Exploration with an average offset of 25 metres. Results from the pre-existing trench yielded 154 metres containing 1.6 grams per tonne gold including 10 metres containing 11.4 grams per tonne gold. New assays from Trench LT-03 indicate that gold mineralization continues to the NE.

Trench LT-04 is 82 metres in length and was cut at right angles to Trenches LT-03 and LT-01. Assay results from this trench confirm the continuity of grade between the two trenches, and the 30 metre section from 18 to 48 metres contains 2.7 grams per tonne gold including 4 metres of 12.9 grams per tonne gold.

Trench LT-10 is located approximately 200 metres ENE of Trench LT-04, and was oriented to the NE. Previous surface work in this area included a single soil line with a high soil value of 0.3 grams per tonne gold, and an MIM drill hole located just to the west of the trench with 10 metres containing 3.4 grams per tonne gold from 8 to 18 metres of depth. Trench LT-10 contains some of the highest gold grades discovered on the property with 18 metres containing 11.3 grams per tonne gold within a longer interval of 42 metres containing 5.6 grams per tonne gold. The 18 metre interval comes at the western end of the trench, and the trench was stopped in good gold grades due to instability in the trench walls. Silver values from the same 18 metre interval are among the highest seen on the property and yielded 310.2 grams per tonne of silver. Select rock-chip samples collected over the unstable 20 metres immediately west of Trench LT-10 also yielded high gold values including 12.1 grams per tonne gold.

In addition to the trenching program, Twenty (20) composite rock-chip samples were collected over a 100 metre long exposure of quartz-rich, gossanous boulders located parallel to Trench LT-01 40 metres to the southwest. The area was gridded into 5-metre long intervals, and rock-chips from the boulders located within each interval were composited into single samples. The boulders sampled from 30 to 100 metres averaged 1.3 grams per tonne gold with a high value of 4.3 grams per tonne gold.

All samples have been collected by Linear Gold's field crew in accordance with industry standards. Sample analyses were completed by ALS Chemex Laboratory Services Limited of Mississauga, Ontario. Samples were assayed for gold by 30g digestion Fire Assay - AA finish with samples greater than 10 g/tonne analyzed by Fire Assay - gravimetric finish and other metals by ICP.
