Linear Gold Identifies Massive Sulfide Mineralization from Drilling at the La Lechoza Prospect, Ampliacion Pueblo Viejo Concession, Dominican Republic

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 25, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp. (TSX:LRR) is pleased to announce that drilling has identified massive sulfide copper-gold mineralization at the La Lechoza prospect on the Ampliacion Pueblo Viejo concession in the Dominican Republic. Highlights of the drilling include a one metre massive sulfide zone containing 10.25% copper and 5.71 grams per tonne of gold within a larger zone of 22 metres containing 1.0% copper and 0.3 grams per tonne of gold from Hole LE-08. Based on the geometry developed from six drill holes, it appears that the zone was cut at nearly right angle to the dip, and that the massive sulfide interval approximates a true thickness.

Most of the holes from the recent drilling program cut significant copper intervals that transition from leached oxide profiles to underlying chalcocite enriched sulfide-bearing zones. Results are as follows:

Holes LE-01, 02, 09, and 10 were drilled to offset the western gossan hill, near the sites of trenches LT-03 and LT-04 reported in the press release of June 15, 2005. Results show strong gold and copper in the oxide zone underlain by a pyritic sulfide zone containing copper mineralization hosted in chalcocite with minor chalcopyrite.

Six holes, LE-03 through LE-08, were drilled to offset the eastern gossan hill near the site of trench LT-10. While the holes did not penetrate the same zone of gold mineralization as seen in the trench, they successfully identified high-grade copper mineralization down dip from the oxide zone into the sulfide zone. All six holes penetrated leached, gossanous oxide zones that transition abruptly into underlying pyrite and minor chalcopyrite bearing breccias containing thick intervals of chalcocite and minor cuprite. The easternmost hole, LE-08, cut one metre of massive chalcopyrite and pyrite (greater than 90% sulfide content) that is preserved at the base of the clay-rich oxide zone. This massive sulfide interval contains multi-element mineralization including 5.7 grams per tonne gold, 10.3% copper, 90.3 grams per tonne silver, and 2.3% zinc. Holes LE-07 and LE-08 are the southeasternmost holes of the drill pattern, and suggest that the massive sulfide trend of higher grade copper and gold could extend down dip to the southeast.

Holes LE-11 through LE-13 were drilled on satellite targets in areas not tested by trenching.

Sample analyses were completed by ALS Chemex Laboratory Services Limited of Mississauga, Ontario. Samples were assayed for gold by 30g digestion Fire Assay - AA finish and other metals by ICP.
