Linear Gold Intersects Additional Mineralization at the Western Anomaly, on its Ixhuatan Project, Mexico

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 1, 2005) - Linear Gold Corp (TSX:LRR) is pleased to report results for the continuing diamond drilling campaign at the Ixhuatan Project, Chiapas, Mexico. Recent results were returned from the ongoing drill program at the Western Anomaly.

Western Anomaly

Drilling at the Western Anomaly, situated one kilometre northwest of the Campamento Deposit, has intersected gold mineralization associated with two separate zones: 1) broad skarn mineralization localized at a contact between diorite and limestone lithologies, and 2) an adjacent zone of moderate fracturing focused within the diorite.

IXWA05-04 and IXWA05-05 were drilled at the same location as Hole IXWA05-03. Previously drilled hole IXWA05-03 was completed in order to evaluate the limestone-diorite contact for potential mineralization. The hole intersected mineralization that yielded 1.0 grams per tonne gold and 1.0 grams per tonne silver over 2.0 metres (from 162-164 metres). Hole IXWA05-04 was drilled at an azimuth of 255 degrees and a dip of -70 degrees, and was designed as an under cut below IXWA05-03. IXWA05-05 was drilled as an off-section hole to the north at an azimuth of 275 degrees and a dip of -55 degrees, and was oriented to test the strike extent of the skarn mineralization.

Hole IXWA05-04 intersected 1.7 grams per tonne gold and 1.0 grams per tonne silver over 16 metres (from 288-304 metres). Hole IXWA05-05 intersected 1.2 grams per tonne gold and 1.9 grams per tonne silver over 20 metres (from 160 to 180 metres). The skarn mineralization is related to faulting along the diorite-limestone contact observed in hole IXWA05-03. Continued geological mapping and evaluation is required to determine the extent and economic potential of the skarn mineralization.

These results demonstrate that the skarn mineralization increases in grade and thickness with depth and along strike as compared to the previously completed IXWA05-03 hole.

Closer to surface, holes IXWA05-04 (from 16-56 metres) and IXWA05-05 (from 28-90 metres) also encountered gold mineralization associated with moderate fracturing within the diorite lithology. Hole IXWA05-04 intersected 1.1 grams per tonne gold and 0.3 grams per tonne silver over 40 metres, and hole IXWA05-05 intersected 1.2 grams per tonne gold and 0.2 grams per tonne silver over 62 metres. This latter interval includes a higher-grade interval which assayed 2.0 grams per tonne gold and 0.2 grams per tonne silver over 22 metres (from 60-82 metres). A prominent sub set of fracturing associated with the mineralization in hole IXWA05-04 is oriented subparallel to core axis and further structural analysis is required to determine the overall geometry of this mineralized zone.

Linear Gold Corp. continues to have three regional stream sediment sampling crews operating on its 100% owned 98,000 hectare concession. Several new areas containing anomalous gold and silver values have been identified by the stream sediment program. A fourth crew has been added to aid in follow-up evaluation of the newly identified stream sediment anomalies.

This press release has been prepared under supervision of Mr. Bill Bond P.Geo., who serves as the qualified person for this project under National Instrument 43-101. A map of the project showing the location of all drill holes is available at the company's website www.lineargoldcorp.com.

All samples were submitted to ALS-Chemex Labs in Guadalajara, Mexico with gold analyzed by 50g charge digestion Fire Assay - AA finish with samples greater that 10 g/tonne analyzed by Fire Assay - gravimetric finish. Other metals were analyzed by aqua regia digestion with ICP finish.

Linear Gold Corp. is actively exploring for gold and base metals in Mexico, and through joint ventures in Canada and the Dominican Republic.
