Liquid Machines Announces Licensing Agreement With Symantec

Enterprise Rights Management Leader Integrates Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) With Symantec Enterprise Vault

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 7, 2007 -- RSA Conference 2007 -- Liquid Machines®, Inc., the leader in Enterprise Rights Management (ERM) solutions, today announced that Symantec has licensed its ERM technology as part of Symantec's Enterprise Vault content management, archival and retrieval system. The Liquid Machines' ERM functionality ensures that electronic content protected and encrypted using Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) can be processed by Enterprise Vault in a way that complies with government regulations and company policies. Additionally, all licensing metadata is preserved in the archive and can be indexed and searched as appropriate.

"The combination of Liquid Machines' technology and Microsoft RMS helps customers meet their fiduciary responsibilities by encrypting content and archiving it for future search and disclosure," said Nick Mehta, vice president of product management for the Information Foundation Group at Symantec. "Our customers can be confident that rights-managed emails and attachments are accurately archived and managed appropriately with regards to full archival retention, index and search preservation."

"Symantec's selection validates the customer demand for enterprise rights management with archiving and a broad range of infrastructure and business workflows," said Ed Gaudet, vice president of product management and marketing at Liquid Machines. "By integrating Microsoft RMS, encryption and archiving into one solution, customers are now able to ensure that their protected information remains that way when archived and stored -- helping them meet fiduciary requirements and be certain that critical company data is not compromised."

Microsoft RMS and Archiving: A Powerful Solution for Enterprise Compliance

Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) for Windows Server 2003 is information-protection technology that works with RMS-enabled applications to help safeguard digital information from unauthorized use -- both online and offline, inside and outside of the firewall. RMS augments an organization's security strategy by protecting information through persistent usage policies, which remain with the information, no matter where it goes. Organizations can use RMS to help prevent sensitive information -- such as financial reports, product specifications, customer data and confidential e-mail messages -- from intentionally or accidentally getting into the wrong hands.

"This is a seminal partnership that demonstrates the value of the Microsoft Identity and Access Management ecosystem working together," said John Chirapurath, director of product management for Identity and Access Management at Microsoft Corp. "The combination of Liquid Machines, Symantec and Microsoft provide customers with an information protection solution that enables a number of enterprise and regulatory compliance scenarios."

Liquid Machines provides ERM technology and solutions that enhance Microsoft RMS enterprise deployments. Combined with Enterprise Vault, the Liquid Machines ERM technology enables the seamless integration of end-to-end enterprise rights management into a corporation's existing archiving features and workflows -- such as search and index for electronic discovery. This integration allows users to protect their critical data using Microsoft RMS and archive it without changing the way they work.

At the RSA Conference, Liquid Machines will demonstrate its solutions for Microsoft RMS in the Microsoft Partner Pavilion, Booth 1009.
