Listeria Contamination of Cantaloupe in the United States

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 16, 2011) - The Government of Canada continues to closely follow the investigation by U.S. authorities into the recall of cantaloupe due to Listeria contamination in the United States.

Based on the information provided by U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorities, and as confirmed by the CFIA, no cantaloupe implicated in the U.S. recall has been shipped to Canada.

Canadians who are considering purchasing cantaloupe when travelling in the U.S. are urged to monitor the recall on the United States Food and Drug Administration's web site at: http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm271899.htm.
