AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Jan 29, 2014) - Today, the LIVESTRONG Foundation announced the appointment of Sean Ramsey as director of product management.
Ramsey joins the team after spending 18 years in software product development and management, most recently at AllClear ID, where he spearheaded development of online and mobile applications that armed consumers with identity theft and fraud monitoring tools. At the Foundation, the Memphis native is working in the newly-created position to proactively provide cancer patients and survivors around the world with digital tools and products that will help remove barriers to quality treatment and ultimately improve their daily experience living with, through and beyond cancer.
"I look forward to seeing Sean carry out a pioneering vision and product strategy for the LIVESTRONG digital platform in 2014 and beyond," said Heather Wajer, LIVESTRONG Foundation vice president of marketing. "Working cross-functionally with our other departments, Sean will drive the development and execution of the product road map from ideation through feature definition and implementation. His expertise will let us build on our existing products like Cancer Hacks, as well as creating new products that will serve cancer patients, survivors and caregivers."
While whole product development has not been the norm in the core work of non-profits, the Foundation believes that it can scale its free services and inspire greater creative energy in building new tools and products with new partners by bringing the process in house with Ramsey.
In 1996, Ramsey co-founded Avatar Technology, Inc., a web development firm, which quickly picked up major accounts that included New Balance, Igloo Coolers and Texas Highways Magazine. The firm later merged with Alchemy Systems, where he helped form the product marketing department before moving onto bluCanu and LibreDigital.
Ramsey received a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts in political science and has resided in Austin ever since. Along with his wife of 10 years, he enjoys spending time with his three daughters, hiking, camping and playing tennis.
