Living Well With Epilepsy Launches New Mobile and Web App in Partnership with Self Care Catalysts

Epilepsy Storylines App now helps people living with epilepsy better manage daily routines and communicate with caregivers

TORONTO, ONTARIO and PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA--(Marketwired - March 26, 2015) - Just in time for Purple Day 2015, a day dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide, boutique media brand Living Well With Epilepsy is launching its new app, Epilepsy Storylines, aimed at helping people living with epilepsy better manage their daily routines and communicate better with their caregivers. The app, developed in partnership with patient intelligence health solution provider Self Care Catalysts, will provide Living Well With Epilepsy's online user community a suite of mini-apps powered by Self Care Catalysts' Health Storylines platform. Epilepsy Storylines is designed to empower people to track seizures, as well as manage daily behaviors and routines such as diet, exercise and medication intake. An epilepsy first aid mini app also provides vital support for caregivers of people with epilepsy.

Epilepsy Storylines is free for all users and now available on the Web and on Google Play™. Epilepsy Storylines will also be available from the App StoreTM in the coming weeks.

"There are more than 65 million people living with epilepsy around the world," says Living Well With Epilepsy founder and managing editor, Jessica Keenan Smith. "After living with epilepsy for more than two decades myself, I founded this community to speak out and help others like me find ways to better manage this disease. I am incredibly excited to partner with Self Care Catalysts in order to provide our community with Living Well With Epilepsy's new Epilepsy Storylines app. Our early pilot of the solution gave those living with epilepsy an opportunity to provide feedback and make suggestions for improvements. This process and the app itself elicited tremendous feedback and a great deal of enthusiasm for the technology.

Whitney, an epilepsy advocate, speaker and blogger, and has had epilepsy for 29 years, was an early user of the application. She started her blog Changing Focus Epilepsy in hopes to spread awareness through her personal journey and to show the world its possible to achieve anything no matter the diagnosis. She notes how the app is easy to use and tracks several different types of information relevant to someone living with epilepsy or a caregiver to someone with epilepsy. "I love that the app is so user friendly. It gives me one central place where I can keep track of my medications, my doctor appointments and it even lets me stamp how I'm feeling that day. It will give those living with epilepsy and caregivers a place to go to build their own circle of support to share their personal journey of everyday life. It's all very similar but very different," says Whitney.

"We are thrilled to expand our support for health advocacy communities and to provide people living with chronic diseases such as epilepsy with new ways to leverage mobile technology to manage and improve their health outcomes," says Grace Soyao, CEO of Self Care Catalysts.
