Liza Lou Featured in The Art Economist

WEST PALM BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - The Art Economist Co., publishers of The Art Economist, the 10-time per year publication that examines the contemporary art market, announces that its next issue cover will feature work created by artist, Liza Lou.

Liza Lou
Born in New York City, Liza Lou was raised in Minnesota and currently lives and works in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and Los Angeles. She works in sculpture with glass beads on such social themes as labor, religion and confinement, creating beaded tableaux. Liza is best known for beading every inch of a to-scale, fully equipped kitchen (estimated to be 30 million beads) and a 525-square-foot backyard. In her South African studio, Liza maintains a staff of about 25 Zulu female assistants, who help in gluing thousands of upright cylindrical beads to her sculptural forms. The Dakis Joannou Collection, Cleveland Museum of Art, Whitney, Foundation Cartier, Pinault Foundation and Brant Foundation are but a few of the international collections that own her work.

The Art Economist
The Art Economist is a critically informative publication serving as a constructive tool for art collectors, museums and galleries to ascertain transparency of art value in the global contemporary art market. In each issue, The Art Economist celebrates and beautifully documents the major creative and financial achievements of the world's leading living artists by ranking the top 300 living artists based on their auction results since 2008; presenting condensed profiles of 30 of those artists; offering art market analysis; providing in-depth profiles of artists and collectors; and recommending new, primary market artists to watch for their predicted, eventual success. The Art Economist further features a private interactive website that offers a ticker with up to the minute news and auction results concerning artists on the continuously evolving List of 300, as well as expanded editorial.
