Lloyds TSB Launches Its 2012 Student Account

Includes Money Saving Offers with NUS and STA Travel

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 10, 2012) - Lloyds TSB today announces the launch of its 2012 Student Current Account. Available to new and existing customers from 5th July 2012, the account includes a number of benefits, including the ability to help students track of their spending and take more control of their money.

The account includes:

A tiered interest and fee-free Planned Overdraft of up to £1,500 in years one to three and up to £2,000 in years four to six (subject to application and approval)

A free NUS extra card for three years, giving students access to exclusive discounts, offers and competitions from over 150 of their favourite brands and retailers on the high street and online, including Spotify, Amazon, Apple, CrossCountry trains, Odeon, JJB Sports, ASOS, McDonalds, Pizza Express and many more

Exclusive £75 discount off a holiday booking with STA Traveli, the world's leading travel agent for students and young people

A free to download Mobile Banking app allowing students to manage their money from almost anywhere

Free text alerts, including limit alerts, high/low balance alerts, overseas transaction alerts and weekly balance alertsii

Money Manager - access to the online service which provides students with the ability to view and track their spending patterns

Internet and telephone banking to help students manage their money 24 hours a day.

Lloyds TSB offers students a number of smart ways to help them manage their money, including Money Manager, a pioneering online service that allows students to view their spending habits and keep track of their finances whilst maintaining a budget at university. Money Manager is a free online service for internet banking customers that can help support students by categorising spend into groups, such as eating out, clothes and entertainment.

Students with a Lloyds TSB account also have access to the Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking App, which provides a variety of features, including the ability to view account balances, pay bills and transfer money between accounts. Alternatively, students can log on to Mobile Banking through their mobile browser, using their Internet Banking detailsiii.

Lloyds Scholars Universities Programme

Last year, Lloyds Banking Group affirmed its commitment to students with the launch of a unique social mobility programme, Lloyds Scholars. The programme provides a complete financial and support package to help young people from lower income families attend leading UK universities and improve their employability skills.   • To open a Lloyds TSB Student Account customers need to be aged 17 or over and studying on a course that is full-time and two years or more in duration or a one year Access course leading to a degree. They will also need to have a UCAS confirmation letter confirming their place or a letter from their university or college. New customers will also need to provide proof of ID and address.
  • A tiered interest and fee-free Planned Overdraft (subject to application and approval) of up to £1,500 is available in year 1 (£500 for the first 6 months, £1,000 in months 7-9 and £1,500 after 10 months). Students can apply for an interest and fee-free untiered Planned Overdraft of up to £1,500 in years two and three, and up to £2,000 in years four, five and six.
  • Customers can apply for a Student Account in any Lloyds TSB branch.
  • Lloyds TSB also offers a Shariah approved Islamic Student Account.

iThere is no minimum spend and customers get £75 off any holiday booking as long as it includes either an international flight or Eurostar plus a tour or at least three nights' accommodation either in a hostel or hotel. Customers must apply and open their Student Account by 31 October 2012 and book by 30 June 2013.

iiCustomers need to be registered for Lloyds TSB Internet Banking to access Money Manager and Mobile Banking.

iiiLloyds TSB does not charge for Mobile Banking but mobile operators may charge for some services.
