Local 4-H Youth Participate in GROWMARK's Annual Meeting

KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2005) - Steve Holtz of Ayr and Heather Peart of Hagersville recently represented 4-H Ontario's youth at GROWMARK's Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Holtz and Peart received this opportunity through 4-H Ontario's Ambassador program and the Opportunities of a Lifetime program open to 4-H members.

Steve Holtz was selected as one of six 4-H Ontario Ambassadors as part of a new program developed by 4-H Ontario and sponsored by GROWMARK, Inc., Land O'Lakes Feed and UPI Energy LP to help promote 4-H throughout the province. Holtz says, "I feel very fortunate to be selected to attend GROWMARK's Annual Meeting and proud to represent Ontario's 4-H Program." Holtz has a diploma in fish and wildlife biology and is working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture economics at the University of Guelph.

Heather Peart was chosen for this opportunity because she is an enthusiastic member and strong supporter of 4-H. She says, "4-H provides excellent youth development programs with many opportunities and clubs to fit the diversity of its membership." Traveling to Chicago to experience GROWMARK's Annual Meeting was strongly recommended to Peart by her sister who was given the opportunity to attend last year's event. Peart is in her first year of post secondary education studying animal science at the University of Guelph.

Each year, GROWMARK provides travel opportunities to six exemplary youth who have shown dedication to Ontario youth development. Chosen youth travel to Chicago to learn more about the co-operative and network with GROWMARK business people and other young leaders. As part of their experience, Holtz and Peart along with other Ontario youth from Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario and the Ontario Co-operative Association Co-op Young Leaders Program, participated in the annual meeting's Grand Entry opening ceremonies.

GROWMARK, Inc. is a federated regional co-operative owned by local co-operative members across the Midwest United States and Ontario. Their products and services are marketed under the FS banner. Visit the GROWMARK Web site at
