Local Arts Festival Brings Culture and Community Together in the Comox Valley

Government of Canada provides funding to the Comox Valley Community Arts Council


CUMBERLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 1, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has provided the Comox Valley Community Arts Council with $6,500 in funding through the Building Communities Though Arts and Heritage program for the 9th Local Colours Festival of Arts and Culture.
This free community festival will include a showcase of works produced by local artists, as well as musical and First Nations performances.

The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of State and Member of Parliament (Vancouver Island North), announced this support today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • This year's Local Colours Festival of Arts and Culture will take place on October 3 and 4,in the village of Cumberland, and will feature artists, artisans and performers from across the Comox Valley.
  • The Comox Valley Community Arts Council is a non-profit organization that works to promote local art in the community. In addition to Local Colours, the organization coordinates art shows and workshops, public art and literary projects, performing-arts activities and children's programming.
  • The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
