Local Boys & Girls Club Welcomes New Executive

Collaboration With Austin Organization Brings Seasoned Professional to Bastrop County as New Executive Director

BASTROP, TX--(Marketwired - Jun 12, 2015) - The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bastrop County announced the hiring of Kelly St. Julien as executive director, overseeing the nonprofit organization's operations countywide.

Mr. St. Julien most recently worked for the Austin Boys & Girls Clubs as Unit Director of the East Austin Club and Director of Technology. In honor of his contributions to the Central Texas community, he was named an American Graduate Champion by KLRU Public Broadcasting Station in April of this year.

"We are very pleased to welcome Kelly St. Julien to Bastrop County as our new professional executive director," said Deronza Greene, president of the Board of Directors, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bastrop County. "The Boys & Girls Clubs are making great strides in Bastrop County as we continue our mission to provide local children a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals and quality programs that focus on academic success, healthy lifestyle choices and leadership."

"Having grown up in a Boys & Girls Club in my hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana, I know first-hand how important the club programs are to character development, academic achievement, self-esteem and self-confidence," said St. Julien. "Allowing club members the structured freedom to find something at which they excel, while in a safe, supervised environment, creates a powerful, life-changing experience that many local youth would not have otherwise."

Currently, the Boys & Girls Club Smithville after-school program is in its fourth year of operation in partnership with the Smithville ISD ACE program. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bastrop County also is operating a Summer Learning Camp in Elgin for the second year, in collaboration with the Elgin ISD.

"We are actively seeking a facility in which to relocate our Bastrop Club," said Greene. "As we work toward this goal, we are deeply grateful for the generous support of donors and special events benefiting the club, such as the annual Lost Pines 8 Family Film Festival and the Blue Flame Cruisers' Juneteenth Car Show."
