Local ColorTyme Holds Customer Appreciation Easter Egg Hunt

BATON ROUGE, LA--(Marketwire - April 27, 2009) - Saturday, April 11, Tom Neyhart stood at the front of his ColorTyme store with arms folded, surveying his place of business with a sly smile.

The store was clean and perfect, and everything was in place as usual -- the electronics section was stocked with plenty of TVs, home stereo systems, digital video camera and camcorder equipment. The appliances section had plenty of washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, and stoves, while the computer area looked normal with an abundance of both desktop and laptop varieties.

He didn't seem at all bothered that there was not one customer in the store at 10:59 a.m., when the store had been open since 8 a.m. That's when he saw his store manager, Harry Gordon, emerge from the store's furniture section with a thumbs up. He had just tucked the last egg into the cushions of a couch.

"The kids that look around the dining room furniture will have easy finds, but the ones that look in the home office furniture are really going to hit pay dirt," Gordon said with a grin.

Neyhart checked his watch -- 11 a.m. straight up. He turned and opened the doors to let in the children who had been waiting outside since 10:45, and they swarmed in like locusts.

"They ran in, all ages and sizes, in every direction," said Neyhart. "We had a great turnout from toddlers to 11 and 12-year-olds."

This marked Neyhart's first Customer Appreciation Easter Egg Hunt, which he held in each of his Louisiana stores -- two in Baton Rouge and one in Gretna. The event, which he plans to continue annually, included the big Easter egg hunt featuring eggs filled with candy, 50 cent pieces and silver dollars; some encased numbers which corresponded with special prizes. The child that found the most eggs was awarded a 3.5 foot-tall bunny. Afterwards there was a coloring contest with prizes in four age categories.

"We got lots of thanks and interest in future events from all that came," said Neyhart. "The biggest prize of the day was for us though -- just seeing the excitement on the kids' faces."
