Local community groups to host public event

"A Critical Look at Core Service Reviews - The Toronto Experience"

PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 10, 2012) - The Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Stand up for the North Committee and the Faculty Association of the College of New Caledonia are hosting a free community event entitled "A Critical Look at Core Service Reviews - The Toronto Experience", Tuesday, October 16th.

This event will feature Sean Meagher of Public Interest and Peter Ewart of the Stand Up for the North Committee and aims to address the issues associated with core service reviews.

Sean worked with CUPE locals in Toronto as the City of Toronto underwent a core service review and will speak about the pitfalls of these reviews and discuss how communities can mobilize to protect public services when facing such a review. Peter will speak to local issues and about the current Core Service Review in Prince George.
