The Local Content Assurance Bureau Issues CORE Certification to Silfab Ontario for the Production of Solar Photovoltaic Modules in Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 5, 2012) - The Local Content Assurance Bureau Inc. (LCAB) announced today that it has completed a rigorous independent review of Silfab Ontario's (Silfab) manufacturing facilities and products. As a result of that review, LCAB has issued a CORE Certification to Silfab, indicating that Silfab-produced solar photovoltaic modules at their Mississauga plant are in accordance with its Ontario domestic content requirements.

LCAB's Contributor to Ontario Renewable Energy Program (CORE Program) is an industry led, voluntary certification process developed to help Ontario manufacturers, suppliers, professional services firms, and individuals meet domestic content requirements set out by the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in the OPA's Feed-In Tariff Program (FIT Program).

This CORE certification required a detailed onsite review of Silfab's production facilities in order to verify a wide variety of aspects of Silfab's production practices, capacity, documentation and techniques. Based on this detailed review and further analysis, LCAB can say with confidence that Silfab's products fulfill in our opinion the domestic content requirements set forth in the FIT Program, specifically with regards to activity 4 of both Table 2 and Table 4.

"We are very happy to issue a CORE certification to Silfab" said Etienne Lecompte, Managing Director of LCAB. "Silfab is a great company who made a conscious choice to invest and grow in Ontario, creating jobs and ultimately contributing to the success of a growing solar industry. We applaud their vision and commitment to the FIT Program, and encourage FIT project owners across the province to trust that Silfab modules contribute to Ontario's green economy."

"We aim to please our customers and appreciate the fact that some of them prefer a third party review of our manufacturing process. We thank LCAB for providing this service and attesting to the high integrity of Silfab's quality and compliance controls. These controls not only ensure the long term performance of our modules, but also provide the traceability of all module materials through the production process, thus facilitating the OPA audit process both at commissioning and any time over the next 20 years" said Marco Massarotto, Sales Manager of Silfab Ontario.
