Today, Tigers goalie and local product Matt Keetley took part in an event to hand out keys of a brand new RV to a Medicine Hat hockey fan. The local Tigers season ticket holder won the RV as a result of a shootout competition during a recent Go RVing-sponsored Tigers hockey game.

Randy Feere, a pastor by profession and also the Tigers national anthem singer, won a Triple 2164 M.H. model recreational vehicle courtesy of Dunmore, Alberta-based RV dealer Sterling Trailers. The RV, which retails at $7,995 was given out in the context of the Go RVing Game Night on February 24th versus Red Deer.

"We feel our affiliation with the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) helps raise awareness of RVing and its focus on the family while at the same time supports Canada's youth and aspiring athletes," said Go RVing member and Sterling Trailers owner Mark Semrau. "Sterling is proud to support the Tigers and congratulates Mr. Feere on his win."

Go RVing Canada, which has partnered with the CHL, is the "official source of family leisure travel of the Canadian Hockey League," and throughout this past season has supported CHL games in all 50 Canadian markets through its local RV dealers.

Go RVing Canada recently released key findings from its 2007 National Ownership Study revealing that overall RV ownership is on the rise in Canada and that currently some 14 percent of Canadian households own a recreational vehicle.

"Canadians and in particular westerners have really endorsed the RV lifestyle in the past decade," said Semrau. "The family experience and low cost trips are all factors impacting the shift to RV ownership."

The national study also revealed that westerners continue to embrace the freedom and flexibility associated with the RV lifestyle. Alberta RV ownership peaked at 18 percent in the 2007 market study, leading all provinces with the exception of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

"I can't wait to go RVing this spring," said Feere. "I'm thinking my first trip will be to Banff where I'll do a little bit of fishing with my family and catch up on some rest."

Sterling Trailers held the celebratory event with star-player Keetley to honour Feere for his win and to thank customers for their loyalty. A few lucky attendees also got the chance to obtain an autograph from Keetley and receive one of three $100 gift cards awarded by Sterling Trailers.
