COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--(Marketwire - February 12, 2010) - SofaKillers, a Colorado Springs-based pop rock cover band, will be performing at The Airplane Restaurant in Colorado Springs on Friday, February 19, 2010 to help raise funds for Compassion International's Haiti Relief Fund.

"We chose Compassion International because they have been working with the poor in Haiti for over 40 years," says SofaKillers front man Tim Glenn, who also works for the child development organization. "The need is still incredibly great and we just want to do what we can to keep this tragedy in the forefront of people's minds, so we can continue to help the hurting in Haiti."

SofaKillers performs pop rock cover tunes from the '70s, '80s, '90s and 2000s from bands such as Stone Temple Pilots, INXS, The Police, Maroon 5, John Mellencamp and more. "Our name comes from our goal to get people off their sofas and out on the town to hear some live music," Glenn says. "We're making sofas obsolete!"

Compassion International is the world's largest Christian child development organization that permanently releases children from poverty. Founded in 1952, Compassion successfully tackles global poverty one child at a time, serving more than 1 million children in 26 of the world's poorest countries. Recognizing poverty is more than a lack of money, Compassion works holistically through local churches to address the individual physical, economic, educational and spiritual needs of children, enabling them to thrive, not just survive. Charity Navigator, America's largest charity evaluator, has awarded Compassion its highest rating -- four stars -- for eight consecutive years.
