Local Tax Officials to Promote CRA Services to Business Owners

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 14, 2005) - Representatives from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will be making community visits to various communities across the Greater Toronto Area the week of October 17-21, 2005.

The purpose of these information visits is to ensure that business owners are aware of the information and services available to them from their nearest tax services office (TSO). During the community visit, TSO representatives will provide information and answer questions on topics such as filling out tax forms, and filing on time. They will also help business owners access any further information they need from the CRA. These visits reflect the CRA's belief that, given the right information and the right services, individuals and businesses will comply with Canada's tax laws voluntarily.

The CRA is committed to ensuring that Canadians can trust the integrity and equity of the tax system. CRA officials promote voluntary compliance with the law by informing Canadians of the risks associated with the underground economy, and taking appropriate measures against those who do not pay their required share of taxes.
