On Saturday, July 23rd, you will have the opportunity to sample some of Canada's best wines including those made with Mr. Fajgenbaum's award-winning Grapemasters' grapes, which won 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals at a recent Wine Judges of Canada event, and 3 bronze medals at the Winemaker Magazine competition. Other distinguished experts attending are Clive Woolner, President of the Amateur Winemakers of Ontario, and Kevin Watson, owner of Watsons Vineyards and winner of the 2008 Niagara's Grape King award. This can't-miss event opens at 1:00 PM, July 23rd with a stunning array of Mr. Fajgenbaum's acclaimed wines to sample.
From 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in a media only session, Clive Woolner and Kevin Watson will unveil a series of award-winning wines from recent provincial competitions as well as award-winning wines from around the world. Along with Mr. Fajgenbaum, Mr. Woolner and Mr. Watson will also answer questions from the press and the guests. At 2 pm, the doors will also open to invited amateur winemakers.
Wines at the provincial competition go through an extremely rigorous qualification process to merit consideration for the provincial taste off. Mr. Woolner, President of the Amateur Winemakers of Ontario had the following to say about the provincial competition: "The competition is fierce, and the judging standards are very high. Many gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded, with grapes being sourced locally, as well as from various parts of Washington State and California including the famed Napa Valley, as well as internationally in Spain and Chile. Amateur winemaking has progressed to a point where their wines are indistinguishable from commercial wines." Of special note, over 40 wines at this competition were made with Grapemasters grapes.
