Location Update: The OVAL to Now Host Hockey Teams From Around the World for Red Bull Open Ice 2011 World Finals

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - February 25, 2011) -

Hockey teams from all over the world competed in qualifying competitions that took place all around the globe in hopes of participating in the world phenomenon known as Red Bull Open Ice. This year, a team from Finland, who lost in 2010, is back and determined to win at the world finals this year.

Red Bull Open Ice has earned its reputation for being one of the toughest hockey competitions forcing all who participate to prove their stamina and skills. 32 winning teams from each qualifier will arrive in Minneapolis on February 26th, 2011 ready to hit the open ice.

Red Bull Open Ice is about love of the game bringing the spirit and tradition of hockey back to its origins outdoors on frozen lakes and ponds. The only requirements are passion, a little talent and, of course, a helmet and skates. No frills or cushy arenas. Skating in freezing temperatures, the players are there for one reason only, to play the sport as it was meant to be played -- raw, where pure skill takes center stage.
