Lock Up Your Talent: Waterloo Region Tech Firms Come Calling at Career Concepts in Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 23, 2006) - Tomorrow, Waterloo Region technology firms hungry for talent will dominate the IT exhibitors at Career Concepts, Southern Ontario's leading career show. The event will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from 10am to 7pm on Friday, March 24.

Among the exhibitors are some of Waterloo Region's fastest-growing tech companies, including global leaders Research in Motion (TSX:RIM), Sandvine (AIM:SAND), Desire2Learn, SlipStream, Navtech (OTCBB:NAVH) and Metafore.

"Career Concepts is prime picking grounds to find new talent and draw them to this area," said Iain Klugman, president of Communitech, the Waterloo Region technology association. Communitech represents more than 400 high tech firms in Waterloo Region, many hungry to lure talented people to job openings waiting to be filled.

"Waterloo Region offers a lower cost of living, an outstanding quality of life and competitive salaries, while remaining just an hour's drive from Toronto," explained Klugman. "We have a thriving technology cluster doing leading-edge work with many exciting opportunities for tech talent."

The WaterlooTechJobs Web site ( connects career seekers to dozens of technology employers with real opportunities in Waterloo Region. Now in its second year, the site is part of a growing campaign to turn eyes to the area.

"Demand for tech talent in Waterloo Region is intensifying," said Klugman. "From software developers to seasoned sales professionals, firms here are on the grow and aggressively engaged in talent acquisition."
