Lockdown at Drumheller Institution

DRUMHELLER, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Dec. 3, 2013) - On December 1, 2013, at about 9:00 p.m., a lockdown was put in place at Drumheller Institution, a medium security federal institution following an incident.

The lockdown was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Visits have been suspended until a review into the circumstances of this incident is completed. Regular activities will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.

In order to improve practices aimed at preventing this type of incident, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will continue to review the circumstances surrounding this incident and take the appropriate measures.
