Lockdown at Grande Cache Institution


GRANDE CACHE, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan. 22, 2014) - Correctional Service Canada

On January 21, 2014, at about 7:00 a.m., a lockdown was put in place at Grande Cache Institution, a medium-security federal institution, as a precautionary measure after some inmates showed symptoms associated with influenza.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is working with health authorities in order to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

Regularly scheduled visits have been cancelled. Visitors who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the institution directly.

In order to improve practices aimed at preventing this type of incident, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will continue to review the circumstances surrounding this incident and take the appropriate measures.
