Logica, Now Part of CGI, Develops Business for Utilities Suite to Help Utility Companies Compete in Today's Competitive Landscape

Gavle Energi first client to use the suite, which will be rolled out to 40 additional utility clients

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2012) - Logica, now part of CGI, (TSX:GIB.A)(NYSE:GIB), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, is pleased to announce the launch of Business for Utilities Suite (BFUS), a comprehensive customer care and billing solution designed to help utility companies effectively adapt to new opportunities and changing requirements in the market.

Gävle Energi will be the first utility company in Sweden to implement BFUS, having helped to develop and test the system with Logica over the last two years. In addition, BFUS will be rolled out to an additional 40 utility clients.

BFUS offers a modern user interface, interoperability with other systems, and high efficiency and flexibility in managing contracts, products and prices. Having a flexible information system is becoming increasingly important given the increasing competition in the utility market. To win market share, organisations need to offer the right combination of price and product offerings. They also need to be able to develop new offerings, customise products and price service models faster than ever before.

BFUS also includes effective tools for monitoring various functions, such as case management, to help utility companies improve their control and monitoring of key processes. Through the suite's smart tools, executives can interpret, process and visualise data to help identify trends and improve decision making within the organisation. The suite is built around a service oriented architecture (SOA), which means it is easy to integrate with other systems and databases, such as maps and credit and real estate records.

"We see the implementation of this system as the end of a stimulating and challenging project with Logica and the beginning of a journey for us," said Per Laurell, CEO of Gävle Energi AB. "BFUS is an integral part of our ERP solution and has been well received in the organisation. Our goals at the outset of this project were to increase customer satisfaction, efficiency and business skills and already these have been fulfilled."

"Gävle Energi is a utility company that is evolving and growing.and through involving them from day one, we know we have created a truly unique and innovative product. The project has been handled in close cooperation between the companies, in a very rewarding way for CGI," said Patrik Lemner, Managing Director, Software Business, CGI Sweden. "We are excited by the benefits Gävle Energi has already seen and believe this will transform the utility sector moving forwards."
