LANCASTER, KY--(Marketwired - April 25, 2014) - Tommy and Gwen Mitchell, local stars of the GAC TV and DIY Network show LogHeads and owners of Rocky Top Log Furniture and Railing, are organizing the Logs 'n Hogs: Rolling for Our Heroes motorcycle ride event on Saturday, May, 10 to raise funds and awareness for Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness, a new rural retreat in Bluemont, Va., for our nation's wounded military members, veterans and their families.

"Meeting our nation's heroes at Boulder Crest Retreat was a life changing event and made us want to do more," said Tommy Mitchell, owner of Rocky Top Log Furniture and Railing.

The event will commence at 11:30 a.m. with a police escorted motorcycle ride from Wildcat Harley-Davidson located at 575 Hal Parkway, London, KY 40741 to the Garrard County Fairgrounds in Lancaster, KY. Shortly after the riders arrive, the celebration will officially kick-off with Dana Bowman, a double-amputee Army veteran, parachuting into the event with the American Flag. The fun-filled day will include food, family-friendly events and activities, hourly raffles, surprise guests and live music featuring Simon Pure as headliner. The fairgrounds gates will open and festivities will begin at noon, with the official program expected to start at 2:30 p.m. The event will be filmed by Media Meld Studios and included in an upcoming episode of LogHeads.

Proceeds from the Logs 'n Hogs: Rolling for Our Heroes event will benefit Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in Bluemont, Va. The new retreat provides free accommodations, recreational and therapeutic activities for wounded military members, veterans and their families.

The retreat's 37-acre property features four, ADA-accessible cabins, a lodge, archery range, fishing pond, bird sanctuary, children's playground, and nature trails. There are life skills seminars available on site for warriors, as well as yoga and meditation classes, fishing, photography, and archery. Rocky Top Log Furniture and Railing created custom furniture for the retreat to accommodate the needs of their guests.
