Toronto-Based Sid Neigum, One of Four Winners of the DHL Exported Program, showcased fall designs in his First London Show in February

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 14, 2016) - DHL, the world's leading logistics company, brought Toronto designer Sid Neigum's Fall 2016 collection to London Fashion Week in February. As one of the four talented designers who won Cycle 2 of the DHL Exported contest this year, the Toronto-based designer is benefitting from the logistics and branding support provided by DHL and IMG to bring his innovative designs to new international markets.

Neigum's designs have been gracing the runway at Toronto Fashion Week since its inception in 2009. He returns with his collection to Toronto on Monday, March 14 at 9 p.m. to showcase his newest designs and inspiration.

"The DHL Exported Program provided me with a great opportunity to expand into an international market that wasn't accessible to me before," said Neigum. "I see London as a major hub for fashion and technology, and it was a perfect fit for my brand to be seen at London Fashion Week."

DHL has been a committed partner to the fashion industry for more than 50 years providing a variety of logistics solutions ranging from large retail groups & fashion houses with complex international distribution requirements to small fashion boutiques requiring one-off services. For the past eight years, DHL has been the official logistics partner of fashion weeks around the world, including Milan, Paris, London, Tokyo and New York -- highlighting the global commitment to the industry.

"DHL is a longtime provider of supply chain logistics to the fashion industry, and it's important to encourage and promote new talent," said Andrew Williams, CEO, DHL Express Canada. "We have been running initiatives to inspire and educate up and coming fashion designers & students in local markets for many years. The DHL Exported Program is another opportunity to access to the world's most powerful Fashion Week platforms to showcase their collections and kick off the establishment of their brands on a global scale."

DHL and IMG launched the DHL Exported Program in 2014. Designers were invited to submit proposals to expand their business in four key retail markets. Panels of regional experts in New York, London, Milan and Tokyo reviewed entries from designers in 36 countries.

For the winning designers, DHL Exported is sponsoring a fully produced runway show for two consecutive seasons, as well as covering the logistics costs of producing the collection and shipping the finished garments to the runway in New York, Milan, London or Tokyo. The program also offers business strategy consultancy, PR and social media support to the winning designers to help expand their business.

The three other DHL Exported winners are:

  • Marcel Ostertag, New York Fashion Week
  • Atsushi Nakashima, Milan Fashion Week
  • Anne Sofie Madsen, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo
