Longhorn Solar Rolls Out $1 Per-Watt Solar Rebate Program For Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Customers in 14 Cities Across Central Texas That Want to Go Solar and Save Thousands Per Year on Bluebonnet Electric Bills

The Longhorn Solar Rebate Program Will Create Jobs, Stimulate Economic Development and Improve the Environment in Bastrop, Brenham, Caldwell, Elgin, Giddings, Lockhart, Luling, Manor, Martindale, Mustang Ridge, San Marcos, Smithville, Sommerville and Uhland, Texas

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - Jan 25, 2012) - Longhorn Solar (www.longhornsolar.com) announced that due to the heavy demand from Bluebonnet customers at the recent Austin Home and Garden Show, the Company has decided to roll out its $1 per-watt solar rebate program to more than fourteen new Texas cities and towns throughout central Texas until the end of 2012.

"It was clear from the Bluebonnet Coop members at the Austin Home and Garden Show that there is a huge pent up demand from folks living throughout Bluebonnet's service territory for a solar incentive program, especially the people from Bastrop who are still living without power," said Louis Petrik, Longhorn Solar's Chief Operating Officer. "We are very proud to be the very first company to offer a solar incentive program for Bluebonnet customers and we look forward to helping them restore power as well as saving millions of dollars on their electricity bills during 2012."

For the first time in history Bluebonnet Coop members can now sign up for a solar rebate that ranges from $3,000 up to $15,000 to help them offset the cost of installing a solar power array. The solar rebates start for systems as small as 3-kW and are capped at maximum size of 15-kW to comply with Bluebonnet's interconnection agreement.

In addition to the Longhorn Solar rebate, Bluebonnet members that install solar can also take advantage of the 30 percent Federal Solar Tax Credit, which means that a customer that installs a 15-kW system would also receive a federal solar tax credit up to $12,375.

By combining the $1 per-watt solar rebate with the 30 percent federal solar tax credit, Bluebonnet Coop members are now able to utilize solar incentives to pay for around 50 percent of the solar system's cost.

The solar powered savings for PEC customers will be substantial. A 15-kW solar power array will generate approximately $63,000 worth of free solar electricity over the solar system's 25-year life cycle.
