Longines Times Creator's Win at Belmont Stakes

Swiss Watchmaking Brand Is the Official Timekeeper and Watch of the Triple Crown

SAINT-IMIER, SWITZERLAND--(Marketwired - June 13, 2016) - Longines, the internationally renowned Swiss watch brand and Official Watch and Timekeeper of the Belmont Stakes, timed Creator's exciting victory at Belmont Park on Saturday, June 11th.

The heavily-favored Exaggerator captured America's attention at Preakness after defeating Kentucky Derby winner, Nyquist. After a slow start, Creator pulled ahead to defeat Exaggerator and wrap up the Triple Crown series.

To honor Creator's victory, Amy Figueroa, U.S. Brand President for Longines, presented Creator's owners Kenny Troutt and Bobby Flay, trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., with elegant Longines Master Collection timepieces.

This year, the brand hosted the second annual Longines Most Elegant Woman at Belmont fashion contest to celebrate style and glamour associated with the Triple Crown. The chic ladies of Belmont walked the runway for celebrity judges who selected the most elegant woman and awarded her a stainless steel watch with 46 diamonds from the Longines DolceVita collection. The Longines Master Collection watches were also presented to Celestine's owner, trainer and jockey after winning the "Longines Just a Game" race.

Longines' passion for equestrian sport dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and his mount. First worn on the racetracks as early as 1881 and extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers, this model enabled its user to time performances to the seconds. It was already being used by most sport judges in New York in 1886.

About the watches
The Longines Master Collection brings together classical elegance and watchmaking expertise. All range of requirements can be satisfied by the choice of displays offered by the collection: chronograph functions, indication of time in all 24 time-zones worldwide, power-reserve indicator, phases of the moon or retrograde functions. The Longines Master Collection cases are available in steel, steel and yellow gold or 18 carat rose gold. Water-resistant to 3 bar, they also have a transparent case back through which the proud owner can admire the fascinating working of the movement. Each timepiece is mounted on a steel and yellow gold or a steel bracelet, or on a black or brown alligator strap. The Official watch of the event features a silver "barley-corn" design, a moonphase display, as well as blue steel hands. It is mounted on a brown alligator strap.

Inspired by the Italian sweet life, the Longines DolceVita collection exudes contemporary elegance and femininity. Cased in steel, and sometimes decorated with diamonds, the Longines DolceVita collection comes in four dimensions. A silver-coloured "flinqué" dial adorned with painted Roman numerals and a black lacquered or white mother-of-pearl dial with diamonds decorates the watches of this line. Slender rhodium-plated or blued-steel hands point to the passing hours and minutes. With their quartz movement, the timepieces are finished by a choice of black, white, grey or red leather straps or by a stainless steel bracelet.
