Resident Expert Shares Diabetes Knowledge: Link Between Diabetes and Nutrition, Diabetes Management and Best Blood Sugar Meters

SOMERSET, NJ--(Marketwire - March 2, 2009) - In observance of National Nutrition month, Longitude Health, Inc. (www.longitudehealth.com), provider of guided health and wellness solutions for strategically minded employers, will host free, online Q&A sessions focusing on diabetes and nutrition. The hour-long sessions are hosted by Cynthia Sears (RN, CDE), resident expert on diabetes self management, and conducted vis-à-vis MyHealthVillage.com -- an online health and wellness portal owned and operated by Longitude Health.

The American Diabetes Association reports an estimated 17.9 million people are diagnosed with diabetes and another 5.7 million are unaware that they have the disease. Longitude Health's free diabetes resource provides information for any individual seeking to learn more about managing their diabetes or simply connect with other individuals living with diabetes.

Diabetes Q&A Session topics include:

-- You're One of a Kind! -- Learn why one size doesn't fit all and how
you can use your blood sugar meter to understand how food affects you.
Participants will also learn why more than one type of medication is needed
for controlling blood sugar levels. March 5th and 7th 12PM and 7PM (EST)
    each day.

-- Standards of Care: How Does Your Care Compare? -- Learn the standards-
of-care for diabetes management. Participants will learn methods to better
help doctors by tracking their lab tests and eye exams. March 12th and
    14th, 12PM and 7PM (EDT) each day.

-- Ahchoo! Diabetes and Sick Days -- Learn how being sick affects your
blood sugar levels. Participants will gain a better understanding of the
danger signs that indicate a doctor's assistance is needed, in lieu of home-
based remedies. March 19th and 21st, 12PM and 7PM (EDT) each day.

-- Picking the Blood Sugar Meter that's Right for You -- Learn how to
pick the blood sugar meter that's right for you as well as understand how
accurate home meters really are. March 26th and 28th, 12PM and 7PM (EDT)
    each day.

Dr. Jan Swaney, co-founder of MyHealthVillage.com, explains the importance of these diabetes sessions. "There is a great deal of confusion and frustration with managing personal diabetes and blood sugar levels. Many times, people assume they are making the best decisions when in fact, they are exacerbating the problem. MyHealthVillage.com's Q&A Sessions are a great way to dispel rumors about diabetes while helping individuals living with diabetes make informed decisions about their health."

Longitude Health will continue hosting Q&A Sessions throughout 2009 as well as offer free videos, blogs, and discussions on a variety of topics related to health and wellness.
