Longmeadow Dentist Offers Laser for All Restorative Dentistry Needs

LONGMEADOW, MA--(Marketwired - March 29, 2015) - Dores Dental, a highly regarded Longmeadow cosmetic dental office, is adding laser technology that can prepare teeth and fix gum problems without a drill or numbing injections.

The Solea Laser is the first carbon dioxide-powered laser of its kind approved by the FDA to remove tissue from the tooth. The computerized tool allows Dr. Dores to prepare teeth for fillings without drills or injections.

The machine is quiet, which means patients no longer have to hear the sounds of a dental drill. In addition to preparing teeth for fillings, the laser can be used for gum contouring and reshaping. The laser is minimally invasive and cuts down drastically on the patient's chair time and recovery time.

Dr. Jim Dores, owner of Dores Dental, will begin using the new technology in his office in April. Dr. Dores offers oral conscious sedation to treat patients with dental anxiety. This type of sedation, which is rendered in pill form, relaxes patients and allows Dr. Dores to complete multiple dental treatments in one visit.

Dr. Dores sees the Solea Laser as a another tool that will help patients overcome their fear of the dentist.

"Millions of Americans avoid the dentist out of fear of the sights, sounds and smells associated with the dental office. My office is out to correct that problem and treat those patients who are afraid," Dr. Dores said. "The Solea Laser will greatly improve our patient experience by eliminating some of the common fears in dentistry. No more needles and no more drilling."

Dores Dental serves the communities of Longmeadow, Hampden, Southwick, Springfield, Wilbraham, West Springfield and Agawam, Mass., as well as Enfield and Somers, Conn. He treats children, teens and adults in his office. Individual services include same-day crowns, inlays and onlays, dental implants, bridges, root canal therapy, periodontal disease treatment, tooth extractions, teeth-whitening treatments, Invisalign and custom mouthguards.

Dr. Dores spent nine years working in sales and finance before entering dental school. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and worked as an associate dentist for four years before purchasing his own practice in 2010. Dr. Dores has advanced education in general dentistry, Synergy implant training, Invisalign and same-day crowns. He uses a CEREC machine to produce natural-looking and durable same-day restorations.

Dr. Dores received the Vitals Patient Choice Award in 2013, a recognition given out by, a patient-review site for doctors. He is dedicated to his community and donates his time to Alana Smiles, a charity that offers treatment for oral cancer patients, and Dentistry From The Heart, a national collaboration of dentists who provide free dentistry for a day for patients without dental insurance. This year's Dentistry From The Heart program is schedule for Saturday, May 9, at Dr. Dores' Longmeadow dental practice.
