Lori Mathison to take helm of CPABC


VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - June 05, 2017) - The Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) is pleased to announce that Lori Mathison, LLB, FCPA, FCGA has signed on for the role of president and CEO, and will begin her tenure on August 1, 2017.

"Lori's expertise and professional acumen will serve CPABC well into the future as the province continues to navigate through constant disruptive change in technology, business, international accounting standards, and the global political landscape."

Mathison is in the process of wrapping up her current role as the managing partner of the Vancouver office of Dentons Canada LLP, where she is a partner in Dentons' Tax Law group. Her background includes providing specialized tax advice on domestic and cross-border transactions. Her practice involved tax planning, negotiating, and documenting complex corporate transactions.

Mathison serves as a Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and has written and presented for many organizations, including CPA Canada, CPABC, the Canadian Tax Foundation, Continuing Legal Education, and the University of British Columbia.

She was recognized by her peers with a CPA fellowship designation in 2016, and as one of Canada's leading lawyers in the area of Tax Law by the Best Lawyers in Canada publication in 2017. Mathison is involved with the community and currently serves on the boards of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, the Vancouver Public Library Foundation, and the CPA Education Foundation. She also sits on the Law Society of B.C.'s Task Force on Law Firm Regulation and on the Dean's Advisory Committee at the UBC Centre for Business Law.
