"Los Angeles H.E.A.R.T. for the South" Hurricane Emergency Aid Relief Team Local Fundraiser to Raise Money for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina

While National Events Take Over Network TV, a Group of Concerned Citizens From the Los Angeles Entertainment Community Join Forces to Raise Funds to Benefit the Victims of Hurricane Katrina

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 14, 2005 -- It started as a simple crusade among friends in the music industry who, after seeing and hearing about the disaster, wanted to make a physical contribution to the victims of Katrina. As more stories and personal connections to victims were discovered and shared, this group began to feel helpless. This helplessness easily and effortlessly morphed into a passion to do something. In a matter of hours, they formed the group ECHO (Entertainment Community Helping Others) and began organizing a fundraiser called Los Angeles H.E.A.R.T. for the South.

On September 24th, from 9 am to 6 pm, concerned citizens of the Los Angeles Area will join together to raise funds for the families and victims affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Slated for the event are: Local Vendors, Flea Market booths, Live Music, Silent Auction, and Raffle. The event will be hosted at The Fairfax High School Campus (where the weekly Fairfax Flea Market is housed) from 9 am to 6 pm. Local vendors and individuals alike are invited to participate in this event. Flea Market booths are available for reservation now. Reservations can be made for Flea Market booths now at a donation of $200 for the entire day. You will also be able to register the day of the event for a donation of $250.

Music will be provided by both local bands/artists and national acts, as well. The music portion of the event will start at 11 am and run until the event closes at 6 pm. Entertainment will be announced as confirmed. Check the website for updates.

The local Santa Monica Salvation Army Chapter & kettle will be in attendance to update the community of their progress in the affected states. The Los Angeles Red Cross will be holding a blood drive, as well as collecting donations. Along with Salvation Army and Red Cross, donated proceeds will be given to, and Best Friends Animal Society's Hurricane Relief Fund. Discarded cell phones will be accepted as a donation, some may earn as much as $200 per phone toward the fundraising.
