Louisiana Food Company Announces Fall Addition to Package Dry Product Line

Elysian Fields Black-Eyed Peas to Bring South Louisiana Home Cooking to Shelves

BATON ROUGE, LA--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2011) - Louisiana Food Company (OTCBB: LUSI), a purveyor of "Certified" Louisiana specialty food products, today introduced its newest product, Elysian Fields Black-Eyed Peas. This newest addition to LUSI's packaged dry product line is a true representation of a South Louisiana favorite, with that "Nice Louisiana Spice" added. The Elysian Fields Black-Eyed Peas will begin to appear on grocers' shelves near the end of September 2011.

"As with all of our products, the Elysian Fields labeling is an original work of art [] and nicely captures the feel of mid-1900s New Orleans, the New Orleans that inspired so much artistic and literary creativity," said David Loflin, LUSI's President.

The labeling for Elysian Fields Black-Eyed Peas carries with it a story inspired by the history, the culture and the people of South Louisiana:

As I strolled down New Orleans' greatest thoroughfare, Elysian Fields Avenue, sometime in the late '40s it seems, a young lady, 30 at most, stepped down from "Desire," the streetcar. She turned back towards the trolley for a moment, then, with a quick step, towards me. "Excuse me, sir," she said with an inviting Mississippi lilt, "are you from around here?" "Since New Year's Day, 1880," I shrugged. "Thank goodness. I'm looking for Stanley's Diner. My sister told me to take the streetcar named Desire, skip the transfer, ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields! She insists that I have a bowl of his black-eyed peas... says they'll lift my spirits..." -- continued at

Currently, LUSI sells all of its specialty food product lines to retail grocery stores and directly to consumers through its online store --

Capturing South Louisiana

From the outset, LUSI's management has believed that the rich and diverse cultural heritage of South Louisiana would provide a natural source of inspiration for its product labels. As works of art, LUSI's product labels capture the movement and energy that is South Louisiana -- they are "eye-grabbers," and retailer and consumer response to the labels has been extremely positive.
