Valentine's isn't just about chocolate boxes and roses - it's more than that. Lynx knows it's a nail-biting day of will she or won't she, lovers and losers, the worry of trying to outshine her last boyfriend and a sprinkling of why doesn't anyone love me panic.

In the midst of this, we needed some cold hard facts about the whole Valentine's Day experience. Are text messages really an appropriate way to say "i luv u"? Is your gift-buying always a last minute rush? Does a DIY gift really do it for you?

So who better to ask than our 175,000 Lynx Effect Facebook fans (

• 23% will just send a text with the optimum number of kisses being xxx (3).

• Whilst many want to make it as personal as possible and say it in person, a few will put specially recorded songs on YouTube taking the old mix tape to a new level or even braver sing it live on Skype!

• Lynx fans will spend an average £25 on their Valentine.

• A diligent 7% have been planning for months but a brave 17% will freestyle on the day!

Overall, 72% agree with Lynx that DIY gifts are best for the credit-crunch Valentine's. As well as offering advice on our blog, Lynx had our Valentine's Day cards designed and made by paper-cut artist Mr Yen. Hundreds of Lynx fans have voted on who Lynx should send our Valentine's Day cards to, the lucky recipients including Jessica Jane Clement, Emma Glover and Lucy Pinder to name a few.

All we know is, whatever you send and to whomever you send it, make yours count.
