LRAD Corporation Announces $600,000+ LRAD® Order for Bird Control and Protection

LRAD Systems Being Installed at International Mining Site

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2010) - LRAD Corporation (NASDAQ: LRAD), the global leader in acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), announced today it has received a new $600,000+ LRAD® order from bird control and protection partner, DeTect, Inc., the world leader in development, deployment and support of radar systems for aircraft bird strike avoidance, avian risk assessment and migratory research (http://www.detect-inc.com). The order is scheduled to ship this quarter.

"LRAD installations coupled with avian radar are proving to be highly effective in controlling and protecting waterfowl around mining sites," remarked Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corporation. "LRAD's unique long range, highly intelligible warning capabilities are also being tested in trials at airports, air bases, harbors, wind farms and other facilities that have human and wildlife safety concerns."

In avian protection installations, LRAD systems use controlled directionality and focused acoustic output to clearly transmit tones and predator calls at distances in excess of 2,000 meters (please view the following link: http://www.lradx.com/site/content/view/295/110). LRAD can be manually operated or integrated into remotely controlled command and control centers.

"We view protecting wildlife, preventing aircraft bird strikes, and reducing losses from wildlife-related crop and equipment damage as emerging markets with significant potential for our proprietary LRAD systems," Brown concluded.
