LSO Committed to Keeping Customers' Shipping Spend Lower Than the Industry Average by Announcing Their 2017 Published Rates

Express overnight rates up to 25% less than the industry average

Retains dimensional divisor at 166 as global carriers move to 139

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - December 12, 2016) - LSO, the south's premier regional parcel carrier, today announced new 2017 published rates, which again include across the board savings for customers in every product category. In an environment of industry pressures to increase pricing and fees, along with added complexity for customers to assess their impact, LSO continues to provide excellent value versus the global package carriers for both ground and express delivery offerings. Compared to other express offerings in the industry and especially among global carriers, LSO remains an incredible alternative, with an average cost savings of 18% less. Whether shipping via ground services or express overnight, LSO can deliver both great service and lower costs at a savings up to 25% on select products compared to the global carriers.

LSO's commitment to providing the best value for shipping is unparalleled in the industry -- especially when customers are looking for competitive advantage in their parcel shipping. In 2017, many businesses will find their shipping rates will increase from 4% to nearly 8% depending on service option, if customers select from the two major global carriers for their shipping needs.

"As more shippers look at regional carriers as another option for parcel delivery, LSO offers greater value across the board in all service offerings for companies shipping in our broad, multi-state regional coverage area," said LSO's CEO, Rick Jones. "LSO provides customers another, more economical choice when evaluating their parcel carriers."

Dimensional Divisor Change to 139 by National Carriers

Again, as they announced back in 2014, both of the global carriers will implement another major shift in pricing for Ground parcel shipping for 2017 based on package size, also known as dimensional weight pricing that will significantly and negatively impact the bottom line for many shippers. LSO will retain the same great pricing structure for all ground packages one cubic foot and under and continue to provide the best, most cost effective option for customers.

Dimensional weight pricing is a common industry practice that sets the shipping price based on package volume -- the amount of space a package occupies in relation to its actual weight. The two major global carriers will again assess dimensional weight shipping to all ground shipments, burdening the customer with an additional shipping price increase. "At LSO, we understand that in order for our customers to remain competitive, we have to be flexible right along with them. Some shippers will be squeezed by pending rate hikes and fees by other carriers in 2017," said LSO's Jones. "LSO is providing an option to these customers now. We know that packages that are less than one cubic foot represent the majority of the most common box sizes, and, by selecting LSO, customers can continue shipping these parcels rates based on physical weight in 2017."

The company has continued to improve operationally, expanding its regional footprint and innovating throughout 2016 which allowed the company to continue to provide excellent shipping value versus the global carriers and help keep its rates lower. In February, LSO announced the expansion of its shipping services to include major cities and zip codes throughout Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama. The extension of services into these states greatly complemented LSO's broad expanse of parcel delivery and final mile services already widely available throughout the south.
