Luis A. Hernandez, Sonia Manzano Named as Keynote Speakers for 2015 Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference

Professional Development for Practitioners, Forum for Advocates Returns to Colorado Convention Center April 17-18


DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Feb 19, 2015) - Luis A. Hernandez, Training & Technical Assistance Services (T/TAS) Early Childhood Education Specialist, and Sonia Manzano, who for more than 30 years inspired, educated and delighted children and families as "Maria" on Sesame Street, will be the keynote speakers at the 2015 Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference, April 17-18, at the Colorado Convention Center. Now in its fourth year, this regional conference aims to support and solidify the growing understanding of the importance of investing in our youngest children. 

Hernandez, who holds a M.A. in bilingual/multi-cultural education from the University of San Francisco, will deliver his keynote address during the opening session of the conference at 7:45 a.m. Friday, April 17. Highly regarded for his energizing and motivational presentations, Hernandez brings solid expertise to his position based on his work history in Head Start, child care, pre-kindergarten programs, college and universities, child care resource and referral administration, and professional development design. His expertise includes early literacy, dual-language learning, adult learning practices, changing demographics and diversity, and ECE management and partnership topics.

Manzano will address the conference at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, April 18. Named among the "25 Greatest Latino Role Models Ever" by Latina Magazine, Manzano broke ground as one of the first Hispanic characters on national television. An award-winning television writer and children's book author, she also is a master storyteller and staunch advocate for education who inspires audiences with her passion, strength and insight into success. Whether speaking out for literacy, diversity or addressing the issues children face in our media-saturated life, Manzano is a familiar, engaging voice that brings new light to her roles and to our lives. 

RMECC 2015, which focuses on the many challenges and facets of early childhood education, is designed to meet the professional development needs of practitioners while at the same time providing a forum for community advocates. Sponsored by The Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children, the Denver Preschool Program and the Early Childhood Education Association of Colorado, the conference incorporates 16 professional development tracks and provides hundreds of workshops and exhibitors, plus excellent networking opportunities.
