Luis, Will You Marry Me? Love, Sgt. Jasmine
Robbins Bros. Helps Female Soldier Returning From Iraq Complete Mission of Proposing Marriage to Soldier Boyfriend
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - December 12, 2007) - Sgt. Jasmine Chopra of the U.S. Army can now
breathe a sigh of relief since she has completed one of the biggest
missions of her life -- proposing marriage to her soldier boyfriend. On
Dec. 7, Chopra courageously popped the big question via a mobile billboard
to her long-time best friend, now fiancé, Sgt. Luis Delgadillo on the
campus of her alma mater, Chapman University in Orange, California with the
assistance of Robbins Bros., World's Biggest Engagement Ring Store®, and
Dallas is Love.
"Marriage was the last thing on my mind," said Chopra. "And now, I'm the
one who proposed! Luis helped me realize that I can continue to be an
outspoken, vibrant, powerful woman, yet still find comfort and pleasure in
being completely in love and interdependent."
It's not everyday that a mobile billboard is utilized to profess one's
profound love for another, and when Sgt. Delgadillo landed his eyes upon
the crimson red billboard that read, "Luis, Will You Marry Me? Love,
Jasmine," he became wide-eyed and had to re-read the billboard to make
certain that those enduring words were directed toward him. After catching
his breath, Sgt. Delgadillo effortlessly uttered the words, "Of course I
will." Once he responded, Steve Robbins, Chief Engagement Officer at
Robbins Bros., provided him with an engagement ring for Sgt. Chopra, and,
being the remarkable, fearless gentleman Sgt. Delgadillo is, he took
control of the proposal at that point and dropped to one knee to ask for
Sgt. Chopra's hand in marriage with the one-carat, princess-cut solitaire
she had selected on his behalf.
"He is one of the most affable, joyful people I know," said Sgt. Chopra.
"He is also a natural born leader and always leads from the front,
fearlessly taking on missions that others might shrink away from. He makes
me want to be a better soldier."
As part of its A Soldier's Perfect Holiday Marriage Proposal program,
Robbins Bros. joined forces with Dallas is Love to identify military men
and women who were looking to propose to their significant other this
holiday season. The Proposal program was implemented by Robbins Bros. to
show its appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military men and women
serving our country. Through Dallas is Love, Robbins Bros. received
requests from military personnel serving overseas asking for assistance in
proposing to their girlfriend and, in the case of Sgt. Chopra, boyfriend.
Dallas is Love is a Dallas-based non-profit military appreciation
organization created by the joint efforts of sister and brother, Tania and
Patrick Foster, in 2004 when Tania was 15-years-old and Patrick only
12-years-old. The organization raises money to convert into gift
certificates to benefit the four branches of the military. What initially
began as a program to benefit military service members stationed in South
Korea, in three years time, has grown into a program that is able to
benefit military service members stationed worldwide.
As a winner of A Soldier's Perfect Holiday Marriage Proposal program, Sgt.
Chopra was awarded two Robbins Bros. engagement rings; one for her now
fiancé and herself. In addition, Robbins Bros. provided the mobile
billboard and engagement experts who assisted Chopra in planning her
surprise proposal on the campus of Chapman University, near the
university's chapel, where she hopes to wed when Sgt. Delgadillo graduates
from Cal State Fullerton with a major in Journalism.
Both Army Reserve soldiers are scheduled to return to their separate,
distant military bases in Iraq, Camp Anaconda and Forward Operating Base
Kalsu, in the following days and will resume their online, virtual dates
until they reunite in Southern California after both have completed their
remaining five months of active duty.
