Lumberjacks to Invade New Jersey

Family-Oriented Lumberjack Show in June Sponsored by Kuiken Brothers

FAIR LAWN, NJ--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - Kuiken Brothers Inc., a leading supplier of quality lumber, millwork and building materials, invites families from all over the area to attend its 2011 Lumberjack Show, on Saturday, June 4th, in Succasunna, New Jersey.

Professional lumberjacks will demonstrate centuries-old logging skills, such as pole climbing, axe throwing, log rolling, chainsaw carving and other awe-inspiring competitions. Although technology and machinery have replaced manual labor in the logging industry, guests will witness many of the logging skills that are still used today.

"While New Jersey is known throughout the nation as the garden state, almost half of the state is wooded," said Douglas Kuiken, Kuiken Brothers president. "Kuiken Brothers is celebrating New Jersey's nearly-forgotten logging heritage by bringing in one of the top lumberjack shows in the world. We want families to enjoy a nostalgic logging experience borrowed from the early 1900s."

In 1798, there were more than 500 sawmills in New Jersey. That number dwindled to 66 by 1905. Today, the USDA Forest Service reports that 45% of the state, or 2.1 million acres, is forest land.

Timberworks Lumberjack Show has captivated audiences for the past 25 years. Timberworks Lumberjack Shows have been featured on ESPN Jeep Trails, ABC's Wide World of Sports, TNN, Discovery Channel's "The Travelers," MTV's "The Real World" and "Road Rules," the Family Channel, and the Outdoor Life Network.

The show will be held on Kuiken Brothers' new 12-acre, state-of-the-art, drive-through lumber and building materials facility that will serve builders, remodelers and homeowners while helping to create local jobs in the community and bolster business for surrounding merchants.

In between each 45-minute show, visitors are invited to explore the new facility, which features thousands of residential and commercial building materials, a window and door showroom and selection center, an on-site window assembly shop, rail siding providing lumber direct from the mill, and a Benjamin Moore Paint Selection center. Kuiken Brothers also offers continuing education seminars, on-site kitchen showroom and designers, free product literature and samples, and veteran building and sales associates to help answer building or do-it-yourself questions.

The event runs 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 33 Route 10 East, Succasunna, New Jersey, and is free to the public. For more information, visit www.kuikenbrothers.com/lumberjack.
