Luna Grill Breaks Ground at Hillcrest Location, Marks Fourth Restaurant for Rapidly Growing Mediterranean Restaurant Concept

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2011) - Luna Grill, known as "The Ultimate Kabobery," a fast casual Mediterranean restaurant featuring all-fresh, high-quality, wholesome, made-to-order Mediterranean fare, has just broken ground on its fourth restaurant. The newest location is in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, at 350 University Ave.

When completed this July, the 2,000-square-foot restaurant designed by Taj Design, will seat 48 people inside and 52 people in a large patio area outside and employ more than 20 people.

"Although we're employing 20 people for this location, we've created many more jobs than that, creating and building it," said Sean Pourteymour, CEO of Luna Grill. "We hired architects, designers, contractors and many more team players to make our new restaurant come to life and so far we're right on track."

To meet its goals and staff for its new restaurants, Luna Grill held a job fair at the Hillcrest location to hire more than 60 new employees for the entire chain.

"We have an ambitious, but conservative goal to grow our concept throughout Southern California and eventually throughout the U.S.," added Pourteymour. "By adding more than 60 new staff members before the end of the year, we're putting the elements in place to make that growth happen in a controlled, realistic way."

Luna Grill was founded six years ago when Pourteymour's wife, Maria, became concerned that the couple's children weren't getting healthy nutrition when they ate out. She wanted to provide wholesome, natural, made-to-order food that is so healthy and convenient, that she would feel confident enough to feed it to her own children every day. Now the restaurant's Chief Cuisine Officer, Maria develops every menu addition, is involved in selecting all spices, produce, hormone-free meats and works closely with the staff to ensure quality controls across the Luna Grill brand.

"I won't put anything on our menu that I wouldn't feed my own family," said Maria Pourteymour. "We also don't prepare our food in advance. We cook it when you order it so that you can be assured that everything is fresh. That makes a big difference in taste and quality."
