Luxury Institute Survey: Islands and Vogue Tie for First Place as Wealthy Consumers Rate the Most Effective Consumer Publication Websites of 2007

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 19, 2007 -- High net-worth consumers rated both Islands and Vogue magazines' websites the most effective Consumer Publications sites in the 2007 Luxury Website Effectiveness Index survey (LWEI), conducted by the independent, New York-based Luxury Institute. Saveur and Scientific American were rated second and third, respectively.

"It is amazing how many premier magazine publishers that are rated highly in our brand reputation survey fail to score well on website effectiveness," said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. "Wealthy consumers tell us that many luxury publication websites are 'too cluttered,' 'disorganized,' 'have too many pop-ups' and 'fail to deliver relevant content.' Publishers are being guided by internal voices, not the voice of their high net-worth visitors. Our impartial surveys are designed to facilitate a dialogue between wealthy consumers and brands that seek to serve them."

Brands rated (alphabetically): Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Cigar Aficionado, Conde Nast Traveler, Esquire, Food and Wine, Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, Islands, Men's Journal, National Geographic Traveler, New York Magazine, Saveur, Scientific American, The New York Times magazine, The New Yorker, Travel and Leisure, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Wine Spectator

The summarized results of this survey, and scores of other surveys conducted with the wealthy, are available to members of the Luxury Board (, the world's first online community for luxury professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs.

A national sample of over 1,600 wealthy American consumers, with an average income of $305K, and average net worth of $3.2 million, was surveyed online. Survey results are weighted to match demographic and net-worth profiles of the same audience according to the latest Survey of Consumer Finances from The Federal Reserve.
