Luxury Waterfront Real Estate in Muskoka and Haliburton Outpaces Kawartha Lakes

HALIBURTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 28, 2015) - It's no secret that luxury home sales spiked in the Toronto area, while luxury waterfront homes over the $1M mark did not follow suit in cottage country. Muskoka has the strongest cottage country regional brand, and it has done better over the last few post-recession years than its cousins in Haliburton and the Kawartha Lakes. It has only been just recently that prices and sales have taken off in both Muskoka & Haliburton. Folks have done very well with their GTA homes and stock portfolios and it looks like it's time to diversify some of those gains into Muskoka & Haliburton waterfront real-estate. In Haliburton and in some areas of Muskoka, there is still really good value. The low cost of money helps too, and after all, stock investments don't come with waterfront sunsets, sand beaches and the call of the loon. We haven't seen the same trend in the Kawartha Lakes though, as high-end waterfront homes have remained relatively flat there with few sales over $1M," adds Serediuk.
