Luzerne County Selects Tiburon's Comprehensive Suite of Public Safety Software for Its Unrivaled Reliability and Seamless Integration

CommandCAD, MobileCOM and FireRECORDS to Enhance Emergency and Fire Response for the Urban and Rural Populations of Pennsylvania's Third-Largest County

PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - October 24, 2010) -  IACP Booth #2925 -- The Luzerne County 911 Emergency Services Department will deploy Tiburon, Inc.'s integrated public safety software suite to modernize the county's emergency and fire response operations. Tiburon's CommandCAD, MobileCOM and FireRECORDS will facilitate improved communication and interoperability between Luzerne County's 254 fire, EMS and police agencies through a $1.7 million deal that includes hardware, software and a disaster recovery plan.

Located in Northeast Pennsylvania, Luzerne County is approximately 891 square miles and has a population of 320,000. The county's public safety communications are processed by the 911 Center located in Wilkes-Barre, PA where all 911 calls are routed to and dispatched from 110 fire departments, 85 EMS entities, 53 full-time police departments and six part-time police departments.

Tiburon's computer-aided dispatch and mobile software solutions will improve the handling of approximately 432,000 calls and dispatch of approximately 350,000 calls for service per year. MobileCOM seamlessly integrates with CommandCAD, allowing personnel to fully customize the interface on their in-vehicle workstations and more quickly access the critical information that will enhance their response to incidents.

The public safety incident management and reporting solutions from Tiburon integrate SQL reporting services to provide Luzerne County personnel with access to real-time data and the ability to easily view the status of all dispatched units. Developed as a web-enabled full service solution, Tiburon's records processing platform automates all fire and rescue records and reporting operations. The bi-directional interface between CommandCAD and FireRECORDS allows the CAD system to automatically identify relevant premise and hazard information in the Fire system and deliver that information to the dispatcher and front line personnel responding to an incident.

"We are extremely gratified by Luzerne County's vote of confidence in Tiburon. In return, we are confident we'll be able to meet and exceed the county's needs in safeguarding its residents and property while keeping first responders informed, efficient and safe," said Tiburon CEO & President Jeffrey Stone. "The reliability, scalability and interoperability of the Tiburon solution makes it a sound investment with strong returns over the long-term."

Tiburon's suite of public safety software is built on an industry-leading distributed architecture that ensures 99.999% reliability. With virtually no downtime, the Tiburon suite addresses a paramount concern Luzerne County needs to address in updating their emergency response technologies. Officials from Luzerne County conducted a site visit in Volusia County, FL and learned from Tim Jolley, Director of Information Systems for Volusia County Sheriff's Office, that the agency had suffered zero CAD downtime in the nearly seven years since they first implemented the Tiburon system.

"The feature-rich functionality of its software is one of the main reasons we chose to partner with Tiburon. We know the solutions we deploy together will evolve with our agency as we grow from processing more than 1,200 calls each day to thousands more in the future," said James J. McFarland, Luzerne County's 9-1-1 executive director. "We can count on Tiburon to help us advance implementing wireless 911 services, better communications, streamlined operations and new technologies to keep our residents and first responders safe."

The county is currently undergoing a comprehensive overhaul to implement a standardized system of property address numbering in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Service and National Emergency Number Association (NENA) in its rural and urban regions to speed emergency response. The results of the county's address identification work will be integrated into MobileCOM's Mobile Mapping feature.
