M-Files Easy Document Management Software Fuels Motive Systems' Rapid Growth in Revenue and Customers in 2009

Revenue Increases by Over 51% and Customers by Over 66% in Spite of the Tough Economy

PLANO, TX--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) -  Motive Systems, the developer of M-Files easy document management software, announced that it experienced strong growth in both revenue and customers in 2009, with revenue up over 51% and customers increasing by more than 66% over 2008. In addition to exceptional top line growth, the company was strongly profitable despite the challenging economic climate, even with significant incremental investments in marketing, sales and development, including the opening of a US subsidiary, Motive Systems Inc., in February 2009.

This marks the fourth year in a row that the company has achieved similar year over year growth, and confirms the success of Motive Systems' strategy to make professional document management software accessible to any business by focusing on ease of use.

"We are extremely pleased with how enthusiastically the market has responded to our message of simplicity and ease of use," said Antti Nivala, CEO of Motive Systems. "This has resulted in consistently strong growth over the last four years that is enabling us to accelerate our investment to expand our operations and market share in North America and elsewhere. We have a number of announcements planned this year, so 2010 should be even more exciting than 2009."

Motive Systems has rapidly added new customers in a variety of industries, including medical, pharmaceutical, architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and professional services such as accounting and legal. In addition to helping businesses better organize and manage their general documents and processes, M-Files has proven very effective at meeting specific needs associated with records and compliance with regulations and standards such as ISO 9000 in manufacturing, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and its privacy requirements in the medical field, Sarbanes-Oxley related to corporate accounting and reporting practices, and FDA standards such as 21 CFR Part 11 affecting pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, biotech companies, and others.

Motive Systems also offers services via a staff of highly trained consultants who assist customers with tasks such as configuring M-Files document management software to support specific business processes, as well as integrating M-Files with existing CRM, ERP or accounting systems.

"We've seen very strong initial results from our efforts in North America, both in new software sales and in our consulting services business," continued Nivala. "Our consulting services business grew even faster than the rest of our business at over 100% in 2009. We describe our consulting engagements as 'low-touch, high-satisfaction,' and different from other document management software where a significant amount of services are required just to get the system up and running and users trained, the vast majority of consulting related to M-Files is associated with helping customers optimize specific business processes, the result of which is fast ROI and a very high level of customer satisfaction."

Document management software has traditionally been complicated and expensive, requiring large investments not only in the software, but also in the IT resources to configure and maintain it. In addition, typical solutions have required major changes in business processes with significant amounts of training. As a result, a large unserved market remains, leaving most businesses to manage important business documents, information and processes using ad hoc, homegrown methods such as physical file cabinets, standard Windows folders and manual processes. M-Files, in contrast, doesn't require customers to change the way they work. The interface is standard Windows Explorer, so if you know Windows, you know M-Files.

M-Files document management software offers a complete professional feature set including fast search, secure user access permissions, check-in / check-out, version control, workflow and notifications, fast offline and remote use, support for scanning paper documents and email, web access and a robust interface for connecting to external databases such as CRM, ERP and accounting systems.

Motive Systems is actively hiring in sales and consulting; interested candidates should review the careers section of the company's web site or email careers@m-files.com.
