m-Via CEO to Join U.S. Department of State in Speaking on the Entrepreneurial Potential of U.S. Immigrants

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 11, 2011) - m-Via™, the company revolutionizing how families save and share their wealth, today announced that Bill Barhydt, president and CEO, will be a featured speaker along with Luis Moreno, president, Inter-American Development Bank, and Cesar Conde, president, Univision Networks, at Unleashing IdEA, a featured diaspora event to kickoff Global Entrepreneurship Week 2011. The November 14th event in Washington, D.C. will be broadcast on Univision Networks and live streamed globally.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton launched the International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA) in Washington, D.C. at the Secretary's Global Diaspora Forum on May 17, 2011, where m-Via also spoke as one of IdEA's founding partners. IdEA is an innovative platform for public-private partnerships designed to engage diaspora communities, the private sector, and public institutions in a collaborative process. The goal is to support the development of diaspora-centered partnerships that promote trade and investment, volunteerism, philanthropy, diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and innovation in countries of origin.

Joining fellow partners -- including the U.S. Department of State, Inter‐American Development Bank (IDB), Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), and Univision Networks, m-Via will not only support the "Unleashing IdEA" event, but also the follow-on efforts to support entrepreneurs throughout Latin America.

Barhydt's closing talk, "Unleashing Entrepreneurship in the Mobile Era," will address his long experience as an entrepreneur and how entrepreneurship in the Latin American and Caribbean regions is different from the United States. Barhydt will also participate in the panel led by Kauffman Foundation titled: "Collaborative Advantage: How Diaspora Entrepreneurs Are Creating Connections for Shared Prosperity."
