mPhase to Sponsor Small Business Innovation Research Conference

Conference to Provide mPhase With an Opportunity to Strengthen and Deepen Relationships With Potential Customers in Government Sector; Three-Day Conference to Be Held at Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, April 21-23, 2010

LITTLE FALLS, NJ--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) - mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: XDSL), the developer of Power on Command™ battery technologies, announced that it is one of the sponsors of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Conference to be held April 21-23, 2010, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. CEO Ron Durando will attend the conference and be available to discuss mPhase's reserve battery and smart nanobattery technology.

The SBIR conference is designed to bring together small technology businesses with enterprises and government officials interested in adopting new technology, adapting it to current needs and bringing it to market. One-on-one meetings put small business leaders in front of decision makers from both the public and private sectors. Other sponsors include Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Innovations, Boeing, Merck, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, the Department of Homeland Security, and NASA, and other speakers include:

  • Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell
  • Christopher S. Rinaldi, of the Department of Defense
  • Dr. Kristina Johnson, Under Secretary of Department of Technology and Energy

Mr. Durando said, "This conference is an opportunity for mPhase to meet with defense contractors and federal government officials who represent key markets for us. Our battery technology has wide-ranging implications for defense, from flashlights to back-up power on weapons platforms. Selling to the federal government is a long and involved process and the contacts we will make and the relationships we will nurture here will help us navigate our way through the process."

He also said, "Very few people realize that modern military action is virtually impossible without batteries. From shoulder-launched missiles to telecommunications devices, the modern war fighter relies on batteries. And if a battery fails, the consequences can be dire. Our mPower On Command™ reserve battery and Smart NanoBattery can provide power in an instant with 100% absolute certainty that there is a full charge even if the battery has been sitting idle for years."

mPhase is a leader in the development and commercialization of reserve batteries. The company recently began selling its 3-volt lithium-based mPower On Command™ reserve battery, which features a barrier inside the battery that separates the battery's electrolytes from its electrodes, enabling the battery to stay fully charged until activated. Its Smart NanoBattery is a second-generation version of the mPower On Command™ reserve battery. Rather than requiring human action to bring the electrolyte and electrodes together, the Smart NanoBattery can be triggered remotely, by computer or other device. Both provide a full charge instantly, even if it has been on the shelf for years.
