MA Dry Cleaner Offers Free Dry Cleaning to Unemployed Job Seekers

QUINCY, MA--(Marketwire - April 17, 2009) - Dependable Cleaners is offering free dry cleaning to anyone who is currently unemployed and needs freshly cleaned and pressed suits for job interviews. The "Clean Suit Stimulus Package" provides qualified customers with a certificate good for three free suit cleanings. 2,000 certificates will be awarded through this program.

According to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, in Massachusetts, more than 20,300 jobs were lost in March alone. With the Commonwealth's unemployment rate threatening to go into double digits, Dependable Cleaners, a third generation, family-owned company, decided this was a great way to assist unemployed workers in the area.

"We wanted to do something to help our neighbors and customers who are struggling through these difficult times," said Christa Hagearty, President of Dependable Cleaners. "It is our hope that this may relieve some of the stress for job seekers."

"In this market, every competitive advantage is critical," said Harry J. Sobel, Ph.D., President of Sobel & Raciti Associates, a human resources consulting firm. "Seeking a new job in this market can be extremely stressful, even demoralizing. When stress levels and negativity get high we can inadvertently ignore our 'personal physical presentation' because we are depressed or anxious. Putting on freshly cleaned clothes can enhance levels of self confidence."

"Although there are so many things you can't control in the interviewing process, you can control your appearance," said Fred Studley, Founder and CEO of Transition Solutions, a provider of outplacement and career management services. "We coach our candidates on the importance of dressing appropriately for networking and interview meetings. First impressions are critical in creating a positive presentation with the interviewer."

Suits may be a combination of jacket and pants, or jacket and skirt. Eligible customers need only provide proof of status in the form of a recent unemployment pay stub (proof must be no more than two weeks old).
